Hi all,

I'm thinking of doing a border run between Ranong and

Kawthaung, Myanmar in several months. I have a Non-B

on me now.

Could I leave Ranong for Kawthaung with a termination

letter from work and come back to Ranong, Thailand

for a visa-exempt entry again with no problem? I've not

been out of Thailand since last summer. I know Ranong

used to be one of the notorious checkpoints of turning

lots of tourists back.

Or would it be better to fly out and back into Thailand?

I heard that DMK is one of the notorious airports of

denying some tourists entry into Thailand even though

they had a tourist visa on them.

Thank you in advance.

I don't recall any recent reports of the crossing at Ranong being a problem for anybody.

You should not have a problem leaving the country and re-entering for a 30 day visa exempt entry.

Hi ubonjoe,

Thank you for your quick reply.

Should I spend at least a night on the Burmese

side or have 10,000B in cash on me to present

to the IO when I come back to Thailand?

Thank you for your info!

Ranong used to be one of the checkpoints best avoided for

a visa run, I believe, but the IOs are said to be generally quite

cordial now. What a change, eh!

A potential trap though might be your nationality, even if its abundant clear you have not been in that country for a long time. Suddenly all kind of bans are put in place for people from Corona-infected countries.

Seems f.e. in VNam several Europeans are detained, or officially put in isolation due to that.
