Home orchid growing

Featured Replies

Hello!

My wife is planning to grow orchids in Thailand at home. She is not a beginner in gardening but she has never grown the orchids and asked me for help so I've started this thread.

The first one is how the orchids feel at home in Thailand? We've read this article <<<<Link to Bangkok Post removed>>>> but we need someone who can prove this info.

The next question is about fertilizers, especially about MSU fertilizer. As I understand, it is called because of the nutritional program at Michigan State University (that's why MSU). I've also read the articles about it like this one and they say this fertilizer is the best for orchids. And in this review, it has good points. I'm not sure if it is really the best one because some people say it depends on water supply (in other words which water do you use). Is that true? Can I use it when I grow them at home? And does the orchids need additional sprays/mists?

Thanks in advance!

26) The Bangkok Post and Phuketwan do not allow quotes from their news articles or other material to appear on Thaivisa.com. Neither do they allow links to their publications.

Dude I went out and bought  half a dozen for $1.25 each and two are still blooming, and the others are sprouting. They are on a north facing balcony. I drizzle them with water twice a week (takes them an hour to dry its so hot). Because I havent found any fertilizer here in Cambodia yet, I just pee in a bottle and use that to fertilize (20-1 mix with water).

I have flowers so its all working.
