5 Year Non-imigration Visa Possible?

Featured Replies

A friend told me that he got a 5 year non Immigrant visa based on his marriage to his wife and condo in his name at CM immigration. He said it cost 6900baht which sounded very reasonable indeed.

Firstly has anyone else done this as I didn't realise it was possible.

Secondly, will the yellow book and pink card suffice I wonder as I'm not a condo owner. My wife owns our house.

Not interested in Elite visas so please don't quote that as I know about it and aren't interested.

Thanks

Poor sod,  can not tell when his friends are full of sheeat.

Possibly a Non Immigrant O-X visa ?

That popped into my head too but: Visa Processing Fees:- $400 USD for multiple entries per application.

So price doesn't match.

I did notice that... but the OP's post does contain some inaccuracies so maybe the cost is wrong too.

The O-X is a ten year visa ( 5 + 5 ) but requires a hefty lump of baht in the bank and the dreaded mandatory health insurance !!

Could well be.  As mentioned, I merely said what my friend stated to me. I myself doubted it too, hence why I posted on here so more knowledgeable members could advise better.

Having recently renewed I can assure you that there is no 5 year extension based on marriage.
In my case, you hand in your application, they then put you on a 1 month temporary extension as they investigate you in order to make sure you are not lying about being married to your wife who you have been married to for the last 12 years, then you go back and if you've been a good farang you're issued another 11 month extension.  Maybe.  Always, maybe.
Five year extension, which is about the minimum offered by most other countries around the globe to foreigners married to one of their own citizens?  Thai leaders would have to drop their irrational fear of foreigners and embrace Foreigner-Thai "families" as being equal to and deserving of the same human rights protections and basic respect as they extend to Thai-only families.
Given the recent racist rants by an upper level minister in the current Thai cabinet directed at Europeans , I can pretty much guess that a five year visa or five year extension based on marriage isn't going to happen in my lifetime.
Foreign males married to Thai women are considered to be national security risks to the sovereignty of Thailand.  That anti-foreigner sentiment as been baked into Thai culture since the dictates of the Thai Cultural Mandates (rattha niyom) that were issued in 1939 which explicitly warned all Thai citizens of the dangers that foreigners pose to Thailand.
Eighty years later and nothing much has changed in regard to Thais suspicion, distrust, and aversion of all thing having to do with foreigners, including marriages between foreign men and Thai women.

Agree. However if you are a foreign woman marrying a Thai different rules apply. ????

Women don't have penises so the Thai men who rule aren't intimidated.  Although I say that sarcastically, there is perhaps a grain of truth to that.
