The Judicial Commission has approved a request by lower court judges to wear medical masks while presiding over cases to keep themselves from contracting Covid-19 that could possibly be spread by people in the courtroom, Supreme Court President Salaiket Wattanapan said on Monday (March 16).

“The court of first instance includes inmates, witnesses and persons attending the trial. They can be returnees and foreigners from high-risk countries,” he pointed out. “This had given rise to concerns that the judges too could become infected, which led them to make the request for face masks.”

Salaiket said the commission has also approved in principle a draft regulation regarding promotions and rehabilitation of judges’ health.

“This matter will be clarified in the next commission meeting,” he added.

It won't prevent anything! So much for judges being learned and well read!

Isn't that one of the 'Use-one-time-then-throw-away' surgical masks that have been shown to be as much use as norks on a bull? Same as the ones that they've run out of that all Thais want to get?

Thought so.

Since when did judges in Thai courts get closer than 1 metre to anyone?

Another bit of pointless -self-promotion.

foreigners from high-risk countries,” he pointed out.

It just allowed them to keep the above issue percolating.

American friend and I have visited courts hearings just for fun on two occasions.  We were informed our dress code needed to improve next time they let us in. Albeit there is no signage. I asked do you get many farang in here? None for 5 years was the answer.

So I agree with OP above; Another bit of pointless -self-promotion.
