The Bank of Thailand today (March 18) announced cancellation of the annual Songkran holidays, scheduled April 13-15, for financial institutions .

The central bank’s move came following the Cabinet's  decision to postpone  the water- splashing  festival and all related activities .

The government has also ordered  the closures of  entertainment venues in Bangkok for 14 days  to stem the spread of Covid-19.

The central bank said financial institutions will be allowed to take substitute  holidays at later dates . The number of Covid-19 infections in Thailand has risen to 212 cases,  following a spike  in recent days.

Amazing Thailand, New Year is New Year you cannot change the holiday just because it is not going to be profitable as this is the reasoning behind this excuse. The holiday should go ahead as normal, then if it is deemed possible and we have sufficient spare water at a later date to hold the stupid water fight providing it does not cause any health risks.
