Anutin brushes aside claim of lax screening

Asked why a man returning to Thailand from Spain could declare on Facebook that he underwent no airport screening, Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul had to point out that Spain isn’t among the high-risk locales worrying the government most.

 

The man wrote that he arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport from Barcelona after a transfer in Abu Dhabi and fully expected to be screened, but instead breezed through.

 

Anutin said Thailand has collaborated with four countries to make sure no one is allowed to book a flight to Thailand unless they have a medical certificate of health issued no more than three days prior to their travel date.

 

The airport also has unmanned equipment to automatically screen all arrivals for high body temperature, he said.

 

“Our screening is not reckless,” he said. “We have not missed anyone who is infected, and all arrivals must quarantine themselves for 14 days anyway. If they cough, sneeze and have cold, they will be monitored via the AOT application.”

well if that was true Thailand would not have a single case of coronavirus would it

 

 

How is it possible to verify an overseas medical certificate at the airport given time differences and language problems? I wonder whether, if I were to start up a business called Shifty Frog Medical Services and start issuing such certificates, anyone in immigration would raise an eyebrow. Perhaps I could also start up Shifty Frog Assurances to provide Covid-19 insurance certificates for good measure.

Maybe he was too dirty to screen?

He is correct , we all need to be screened against lax.  It could be catching.

Last Monday I flew Saigon to DMK.

Did not have temperature check at Saigon departure or anywhere on arrival DMK.

Just now arrived on Koh Samed. As you get off ferry prior to entry your temperature is checked.

I love em. 

BTW Feb 19 had my temp checked Phuket domestic. 55555

Can't believe they let one of the great unwashed in without screening.

I have had 3 known farangs return via swampy and each one told me that they were not checked, just walked straight through, no temperatures taken, although they did say machines were there, but the staff were playing on their mobiles. I would call it hearsay, but when 3 tell you the same story, you gotta take note.

 

We all know the numbers are in the thousands, how many is anyone's guess, this clown needs to be removed, but we all know that ain't going to happen, because these military boys have each others backs.

Anutin you plonker Spain is 1 of the 10 countries supposedly HIGH RISK.

Every time he opens his mouth, more nonsense comes out, he hasnt got a clue about what is going on.

He's telling lies. All there was at BKK yesterday was thermal screening. No demands for self quarantining, no downloading of apps or requirements to use a sim card for tracking.

I had previously postulated that his IQ barely reached double figures. I now don’t think it’s reached a whole number. To call him a moron would be harsh....on morons.

Spain has the honour of 4th ranking for infections currently, after China, Italy, Iran.

I breezed through swampy arrivals also last week after a few days visa run/holiday in Saigon. I was very surprised there was no checks or health declaration or santiser. 

There was a big contrast between arriving in Vietnam where we were in a long queue filling in a medical declaration to enter.

Where around 80+90% of people were wearing masks and they actually made a really popular song about washing hands.

Coming back here breezed through a pretty much empty swampy and tried to find some hand sanitizer. Only the SCB exchange booth had it.

Also "unmanned temperature screening" is ridiculous. They have those huge thermal cameras set up at the doors of Bumrungrad Hospital and they beep when someone is hot. So he is basically saying they have thermal testing set up but nobody is watching it. Crazy.

Two mates in last  24 hours from Europe in a taxi 12 min after docking.

There are Europeans coming to Thailand now to avoid the lockdown back home...

Simply put, Thailand has been leaving it until the last minute in order to keep the money flowing into the country for as long as possible.

But the question is - at what price....

And soon they will have to close down the country.

For months and months and months.

 

They cannot do an in depth check on everyone, so they focus on the highest risk visitors, that is those coming from Bhutan and Fiji...
