There is no health insurance anywhere in the world that would specifically cover COVID-19 infections; and certainly not for a whopping $100,000 coverage amount. In fact health insurers far and wide -

So yes this virus is a 'boomer butcher'

Clearly a virus engineered by the millenials then. Nah, that can't be, they don't have the skills. In any case, I like that, 'boomer butcher'. Short and sweet.

Excellent! Will help the country to keep away viral infections.

Matters little now, Thais have their own epidemic going on. Had they pulled their heads out of China's rear couple of months ago and stopped the flights and been transparent and effective in the diagnosis, what comes next would be much milder.

Boomer doomer has a neat flow to it also.

Just like Italy did. Genius.

Let's hope that Thailand will change the rules again.

How many people in South-East Asia are able to afford this COVID-19 test and insurance?

They should have a few categories for rich, middle and poor countries.

They are having themselves on as half the airlines have either downsized or gone tits up!Ironically the first tourists that will be back  are the Chinese as reports that the cafes/bars restaurants are open again and factories operating now at over 60%.They will arrive in their masses very soon holding their health certificates and the Thai's will love it!

Let's wait and see, how it happens in real. Today, with China's rapid growth, it seems China has attracted a lot of flack towards itself. As usual, the truth is hidden under the sand.

A lot of places were closed in Lamai & seems to be starting to happen in Chaweng

Most massage parlors seem to be closed until the end of the month

Like where exactly?

Italy, Uk, Spain?

This is not unique to Thailand and every country will do the same, Kid.

The level of ignorance and amount of "what about me" on this page after the same people complained that. not enough was being done.

This needs to happen.

Nah, the disease is already in Thailand, closing borders is just totally ineffective, Thailand like many other countries are three months to late in issuing a border closed for foreigners. I personally think the world has gone raving mad. Closing borders when the virus is already in the country will do nothing to stop the spread of the virus.

It's a bit like putting an expensive lock on the door, when the burglars are already on the inside of that door, placebo, nothing more and nothing less, done to keep the simple minded happy and believing the powers that be are doing something about the situation, even though that something is utterly useless.

It is pretty simple in my view, either you lock down, semi or totally, for months on end (I hope no-one actually believes that locking down until say the end of April, will magically make the virus go away) and even after such a lock-down, all it takes is one infected person slipping through the maze, to restart the cycle all over again. Maybe just maybe it is time for a different approach. Maybe do it now, and not wait for all of the state coffers to run totally dry. Yes the death toll will be pretty substantial in the short run, but I doubt it will be any less in the long run.

It is downright shocking to see human rights and liberties being trampled on, in a most likely vain attempt to control the virus.

I am pretty sure those attempts will eventually fail, as the virus will not go away. All one can hope for is a vaccin being developed soon, so that the vulnerable can be injected with it.

the way things are going, more people could potentially die from other causes then the virus in the first place.

No it won't, but it would do a couple of things. 1. Hammer into the thick Thai heads that this is a real situation and needs social distancing. 2.  Prevent new clusters.

Worth it. Coming out of the lockdown people would be more careful. If not, slam them in for a year or a decade. Eventually they will learn.

I disagree with such an approach, something about civil rights and more of that stuff. It boggles the mind how governments the world over are taking such extreme measures, for a virus with a kill ratio of about 4% if the figures need to be believed at the moment.

Of course, the economic reality will be that those extreme measure will have to be revised rather sooner than later.

To prevent new clusters, yes that will be achieved. My point is, those clusters will re-appear the minute the lockdown is lessened or stopped.

Oh and this is not a typical Thai problem, the world over, people ignore the social distancing. It's easy to critize, until you realize, it is just human nature.

But maybe the good prime minister - and his public health clown - are not aware of that; like of so many things.

can only be exluded for new subscriptions for health insurance.
