I have a work permit, also I am on a one year marriage visa extension. What do I apply for this time around. Surely you don't need 400,000 in the bank if you are a legitimate worker. I was going to Immigration tomorrow, but if anybody knows FOR CERTAIN then I can go next Monday with my application. Or maybe the sum that I said I was being paid will suffice.

You must prove a monthly income of 40,000 Baht.

Be aware that if you give up the 400,000 Baht in the bank option you will not be able to go back to it in the future.

What job in Thailand pays 40,000 per month? And why give me a permit to earn 25,000 a month, when it's no good for the visa.

I think what you mean is that you have to have 40,000 a month coming in from your home country, to get a marriage visa. That is not the question I asked. I know that.

The 40,000 is based on income coming into the household therefore if you are earning 25,000 and your wife 15,000 you qualify.

Regards

PS Next Monday is a holiday so immigration will be closed, {so is Tuesday}

Farangconnection, don’t ask the question if you don’t like the answer.

In your original post you asked “I have a work permit, also I am on a one year marriage visa extension. What do I apply for this time around. Surely you don't need 400,000 in the bank if you are a legitimate worker.”

You did not say how little you earn and without that information the answer of Lite beer was spot on, except that I seem to remember reading in a post of Lopburi’s that if one is grandfathered on the marriage extension and changes from the basis of 400k in the bank to 40k monthly salary one can later change back again. However, I guess it can depend on the immigration official you deal with.

And yes, there are many farang earning a lot more than 40k per month.

Based on your original post, you had three different possible ways of applying for an extension of stay. With the additional information, this is reduced to two but fearing that you would again not like the answer I prefer not to give it.

It is income, as Lite Beer said. This can be the foreigners income, the wife’s income, or a combination of both. If the income is earned in Thailand, evidence of tax payment must be shown. If it is earned abroad, Immigration wants to see a letter from the embassy and usually also supporting documents.

Contrary to what the OP thinks, it is not money transferred from abroad, but I say this only to confirm what you and Lite Beer said, knowing that the OP won’t believe it anyway.

Well there's a simple answer to that then. I will take my business and questions elsewhere.
