Getting A Tourist Visa From Penang

Featured Replies

I am currently in Thai but already on finishing my visa on arrival option. (reaching the 90days stay in kindom).

I am planning to get myself a Tourist Visa from penang, gave them a call and they said its ok. (is it true?) if they do issue me with a Tourist Visa will the immigration in Bangkok stop me on the 90/180 days rule?

If i am taking the airasia flight which arrives at 10.05am in Penang, the visa application time is 9am - 12pm, will i still make it there in taxi?

The next day i was told it will be ready but the flight is at 5.05pm and the collect time is from 2-4pm, if i go there and wait before 2 will i get it on time to board the flight?

Its my first time to Penang getting my first Tourist Visa, I hope anyone who knows or experience this can help me out.

Thank you.

This a risky operation. It can be done, but only if:

- Your flight out of BKK is not delayed and you make it before noon to the consulate.

- They give you a TR the next day without asking questions or delay.

If you're flight is on time, you'll be there around 11.05 am. Also if you get your TR on time, you'll make your flight back without any problem.

Last time I took the cautious way and stayed until Saturday morning arriving on a Wednesday morning.

I've been told that AirAsia morning flights are usual on time.

The taxi fare from the airport is 38 ringgit (get a ticket from the counter). Return from Penang costs around 20-25 ringgit.

No problems. Hand luggage only, taxi takes about 20 minutes. Better to have your taxi take you straight to the Thai consulate. About 45 ringgit including stopping off and going to the hotel. Same on return. Use the receipt for your passport to check into the hotel.

At the airport, there is a Nando chicken restaurant for a snack before flying back to LOS.

I tried calling the Thai consulate and they said the same thing twice in a row.

its free for my tourist visa and the next day 2-4 will be ready.

Thanks for your replies.

Does anyone know how the queue is like for collecting passports the next day and also when we do the application.
