China reports 39 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, all imported

BEIJING (Reuters) - Mainland China had 39 new confirmed cases on Sunday, the country's National Health Commission said, down from 46 a day earlier.

 

All of the new cases involved travellers arriving in China from abroad, the health authority said in a statement on Monday.

 

That brings the total accumulated number of confirmed cases in mainland China so far to 81,093.

 

The death toll from the outbreak in mainland China reached 3,270 as of the end of Sunday, up by nine from the previous day.

Chinese people dont really get responsabilty, empathy, morals and just good old kindness. They try to take advantage of it. Sad but true....Yes i know not all but.....

If I was China I'd call them all imported also. I'd also fail to report 10's (110's?) of thousands of others who contracted the disease and the thousands (10's of?) of deaths that stemed from those unreported cases.

China is working a script. That script is "We stopped the virus domestically. Now all new cases are coming from outside." Anyone who believes that China completely stopped the Wuhan virus is naive. A country of over 1 BILLION people, with the virus spread to every province - and they stopped it in 2 months time. What a joke. The Chinese shut down the factories. But they know they need to put people back to work. No one will go back to work if they think the virus is every where. And when they do go back to work, the virus will re-emerge with a vengeance, and the CCP needs some cover - "Hey, we had it under control, but these foreigners brought it in!"

to put that into perspective, there are 1.45 billion chinese, and close to 2 billion active cell phone subscriptions.  98% of the population has a cellphone.  yes, they start 'em early!  taking care of kids is boring, throw a cheap cellphone in the crib to keep 'em quiet. 

 

is 21 million (if you beleive falun gong numbers) much?  too simplistic to think that number indicates dead people.

 

the chinese here are getting more restrictive with sim cards just like in thailand.  chinese have to register with national id card and facial recognition scan.  they have to repeat that to pay their bills....do a face scan at the wee tiny camera mounted on the register!  us foreigners can use our passports to register a sim card, but must do at the main office in whatever city.

 

there's gotta be some percentage of loss or breakage monthly, along with stolen phones especially in hard times.

 

you've also got millions of chinese in lockdown, many outside of their home area.  i found it impossible (as a foreigner) to recharge a china mobile account outside the registered province.  don't know if the chinese can do it online.  probably, maybe?  there were also several weeks when cellphone offices were shutdown completely, likely many accounts ran out and were not renewed.

Why? WHO have not determined the origin of CD19. Even CDC director couldn’t be certain that the thousand of flu deaths in America may have a connection to CD19.

the reuters reporter is emphasizing no new local cases.

not enough print space to get all the details all the time.

other reports (cnn?) indicated they were expats returning from

This is the way the cycle of infectious "hot spots " will keep rebounding around the Globe for many more Months yet.

Countries will start to let their guard down as soon as they can in order to kick start their ailing Economies, and the Virus will start to take hold again, because it was never ( and probably never will be ) completely eradicated.

Countries such as Thailand are more prone to resurging cases, as their Economy relies heavily on Tourists, which makes their borders very porous, and therefore the country more prone to re-infection,

IMMHO this Covid19 outbreak is going to affect World Economies for at least another 18 Months, and possibly longer. If Countries get weak or greedy about the controls of this Virus, they will pay an even more heavy price in times to come.

that is the big worry.  we've had no new cases here in a month, and most businesses are open.  local schools will open first week of april.  that should be fine as they are all hainan kids.

 

but what happens when they reopen the colleges?  all those mainland students bringing the virus with them!!  there will be 14-day mandatory quarantine, but will they still be able to maintain strict control? 

 

already fewer locals are wearing masks.  the pool halls and fast food joints are open, the kids are bunched up together without masks.  folks on the streets are getting back into the habit of spitting.   just one infected student and we'll have another wave of infections.

got up this morning to check the latest virus news.  girlfriend worried about her family in korat.  me, i'm more concerned about the situation here in hainan.

 

opened the john hopkins site with the most recent numbers, and there it was!

 

for the past month we've had 168 total cases with 6 deaths, and the number of active cases slowly dwindling, remaining at 1 for the past week.

 

but this morning....incontrovertible evidence china is lying!
