Thais in Malaysia may only return home by air

Thai people living or working in Malaysia, who wish to return home, can now only do so by air, after all land border crossings between Thailand and Malaysia were closed today.

According to a statement, issued by the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Thai citizens in Malaysia can request a certificate from the Embassy online, if they want to return to Thailand, provided that they obtain a “fit to fly” doctor’s certificate from any hospital or clinic in Malaysia or at the two airports in Kuala Lumpur.

The Thai embassy has also opened three hotline numbers – 017-709822, 011-11721963 and 011-11608379 – for Thais to find help or advice.

Many Thai Muslims, from the four southern border provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Satun, work in tom yum gung restaurants in Malaysia and send their incomes to help families back in Thailand.  They recently started to return home, after the Malaysian government ordered the closure of borders with Thailand to stem the spread of COVID-19.

IF they want to go back to Thailand they can get a certificate but in Thailand for farang that live in Thailand on narriage visas you have to get the F out, pay fines, cant get flights, no, problem just walk out on your families and swim home for all the thai gov care.

Very poor governance in sealing off all borders.   The dreamteam and the government is letting the humble Thai down as usual.  Maybe Stevo100 can post some GQ shots of cha cha to elevate the mood.

same as always, makes no sense ....

I have a marriage visa and have no issues..

The "funny" thing - as far as I saw - there no direct flights from KUL to BKK - only a  few airlines still fly via their home country.

Interesting that both airports at KL had Dr's on board to issue the certificates but how can they tell if the person is contaminated but shows no symptome ???

i  think  we  both  know  the  answer to  that

What about Thai Muslims who crossed into Malaysia to attend the four-day Tablighi Ijtema earlier this month?

In it's wake, 40 new cases of corona virus infection were detected among Malaysians who had attended the Sri Petaling event. The organisers revealed 500 faithful from other countries were also there.

Have any Thai Muslims attendees been traced and tested? If not, they could unknowingly have become infected and spreading the virus.
