Health officials in Pattaya have released a report in English regarding the current COVID-19 situation in the city.

The report, released on Monday, was posted on the ศูนย์ข้อมูล Pattaya Covid-19, a new official Facebook Page launched to help keep people updated on the number of infected persons, as well as preventative measures members of the public should undertake.

The report says a total of 10 cases have been confirmed in Chonburi province, eight of which included people that attended a boxing event in Bangkok - which has been cited by officials as a major source of infections.

The report also confirms the case of a Belgian tourist who visited Pattaya for one day before travelling to Phetchabun. Whilst in Pattaya he drank in a ‘party bar’ on Soi 8. However, all those he had contact with, including the man’s wife and extended family, were traced, isolated and tested negative for coronavirus.

The report also reveals the case of a 20 year old tourist from Hong Kong who reportedly refused to self isolate and was later apprehended by health officials. The tourist was later returned to their accommodation and warned the penalty for failing to isolate is 100,000 baht fine and/or up to one year in jail.

The report details the screening and preventative measures put in place by officials in the city. The measures include disinfecting many areas of Pattaya and stepping up screening of people.

Finally, the Pattaya COVID-19 page urges people to practice social distancing.

a step in the right direction - transparency is good, any chance we can get these for the other major tourist destinations?

and daily updates!

Top of 2nd page total of 10,343 PUI ..

2nd line with 4,156,730 from the airports , 124,982 ports , 556,207 land borders and 116,702 Chaengwattana Imm' office ..

Am I missing something there .?

Further down same paragraph 599 cases confirmed up 188 from 22/03

and 1 death only .. the same it has been for weeks .. yet other countries mortality numbers are rising daily once it has a grip on their communities .. Sceptical doesn't adequately cover the lack of acceptance of that figure ..

And the almost daily and customary snipe at foreigners in this with Belgium and Italy registering some prominence today .. Be some other ferang getting a dig tomorrow ..

Pattaya needs leaders in power  who make decisions anticipating what’s going to happen, not waiting until it’s so obvious (you’re forced) to make a decision.

An incremental response — adding new voluntary measures piece by piece — has been ineffective. Stricter enhanced measures are necessary to stifle the outbreak.

Is there a medical hotline with English speaking informed staff to call with instructions regarding what to do if you think you might have virus in Pattaya? I may have missed that

Believable?

Thailand only has 1 death , but how many have died of  other causes like pneumonia?

Lots more than usual, I bet.

It would be nice to see the honest numbers of the virus deaths.

Geezer

My misses is just attending her second funeral in the past 2 weeks.

Normally it's one a year.

Well, we know that reported mortality rate has been ~1% or more in other countries, so 599 cases and only one death in Thailand... must mean Thailand has the best healthcare!
