Bangkok governor issues 7 strict guidelines for public to tackle Covid-19 spread

Bangkok Governor Pol General Aswin Kwanmuang issued seven urgent guidelines today (March 23) to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.

 

The guidelines are:

 

1. People should not travel out of Bangkok because they could be infected during travelling and may spread the disease to especially children and the elderly in other areas.

 

2. People should stay put in their homes, clean these frequently, especially surfaces that are touched regularly and bathrooms, to protect themselves and their families.

 

3. Both government and private organisations should issue measures to prevent the spread of the disease by cleaning frequently touched surfaces and toilets and keeping seats apart by least 1 to 2 metres.

 

Besides, organisations must take care of their employees’ health by following Public Health Ministry guidelines, such as using face masks, having hand-sanitising points, and going in for proper waste management, while they have to consider implementing a shift roster for employees or allowing staff to work from home and use video teleconferencing instead.

 

4. People who have visited boxing stadiums, entertainment venues or other places where confirmed Covid-19 cases were reported, including those in contact with patients, should closely observe their health and immediately see a doctor if they have fever, cough, sore throat, and difficulty breathing.

 

5. People should avoid going to crowded places and keep a distance of 1 to 2 metres from others.

 

6. The government and private sectors should refrain from organising activities that draw people together, such as conferences, training courses, seminars, exhibitions, public events, concerts, drama or movie shootings, or viewing programmes in television studios or live broadcast rooms.

 

7. All mass transportation should reduce crowding of passengers by following Public Health Ministry guidelines, such as adding ticket distribution channels, providing a large enough space for passengers so they are separated 1-2 metres apart, increasing the number of trips, cleaning frequently touched surfaces, setting up hand-sanitising points, checking passengers’ body temperature and carrying out effective waste management.

 

Besides, they should instruct any passenger who has a cough, is sneezing, or has runny nose to wear a face mask.

 

“The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has increased quickly,” Governor Aswin said. “Bangkok is an important centre for economy, transportation and tourism and is densely populated, so this capital city is under risk of a rapid spread of the disease,” he said.

 

“Therefore, controlling public assembly at various locations is highly necessary,” he added.

OMG, That's so useful these guidelines.

I am sure every Thai is learning a lot from your guidelines.

 

The question is : What do YOU do to support them, to help people to implement them or to enforce them????

A bit late now after shutting down Bkk and letting so many crowd into Mochit bus station and board crowded buses to many provinces. 

General Aswin. hahahahhahaha. Missing an s somewhere. How about lock down Bangkok? Oh so sorry too late…. 100,000 workers have went home out of Bangkok now and are spreading the virus love.

It seems that he has told people not to go to crowded location like immigration offices?

As usual, there are a load of cynical expats on here. I actually like and respect this post and feel that (even if things have happened or not happened in the past) he's making a decent effort.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

At least he's not making ridiculous claims or comments like some others in Parliament.

Oh, and if he said nothing, he'd be wrong.

No one needs Google or Reuters or WHO. Just come to TVF for experts and cinics.

Bangkok residents told not to travel outside the city and to at stay home

In light of the exponential surge in COVID-19 infections and the potential for increased transmission in upcountry provinces, Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang today appealed to everyone, currently in Bangkok, not to travel out of the city and to stay at home.

 

“We are fighting an enemy which is more devastating than any weapon or army.  The enemy keeps multiplying every day and gains the upper hand if we do not change our way of life.  The only way to defeat this enemy is for all of us to do these simple things – practise social distancing and avoid crowded places – and we will weather this crisis together,” said the governor.

 

In a new directive, issued by the governor today, the public and private sectors have been told to take preventive measures, as recommended by the Public Health Ministry, and to enforce strict social distancing in work places.  They were also told to suspend all activities which will draw even small crowds.

 

For those who recently went to boxing stadia, entertainment venues or those who had contact with the infected, they must confine themselves at their home or lodgings, monitor their health and see a doctor if they develop symptoms.

 

Public transport operators were also urged to reduce the number of passengers in each bus and train carriage to avoid close contact.

 

Realising that many people will be affected by this directive, the governor assured that the Government will develop ways to help them.

Missed the bus for this one.

They are really a whole bunch of clowns. Today the Bangkok governor go out and tell the people in Bangkok not to travel. How would it have been if he did that before the exodus yesterday? The reason for not travelling is also that the virus might spread to other parts of the country. Yes, of course it will do. That thing they took care of yesterday, instead of telling people to stay put before. To me it looks like it´s a deliberate spread. It´s sounds like an all win win situation for the government.

As the old saying goes... an order a day keeps the doctor away!!!

 

Wonder what will be forthcoming tomorrow... Stay tuned!

What he says above are generally the right things to say and do...

 

The problems are... 1. It's too late (they should have thought of that BEFORE the BKK closures order sent everyone scattering). And 2., no one anywhere in local or national government will do much of anything to see that what he's calling for actually is implemented in any meaningful way.

This coincides with those Thai entertainment shows ,such as "The Voice".

Bet they still have it though 

Whats going on with Chatuchack market. I hope they had sense to close that

A full lockdown with limited inter provincial travel is inevitable here.

 

Last week was the time to do it, they failed.

 

So now is the new time to do it, will they fail again? We will know in the next few days I guess.

The authorities in the country are totally out of their depth .The job in Thailand is to get the job.Then the work is done [until something that needs a proper soluition happens then medals and uniforms and wais can't cover the incompetence.]

 

If you earn 400 baht a day, how can you stay home? Is the army driving around with food and water supplies?

Why is it left to the Governor of Bangkok and provincial Governors to issue instructions and guidance about Covid-19! Where is the government and our revered PM in all this. In UK and USA, the PM and President are making daily TV and media broadcasts to the Nation! This country needs decisive cental government action Now! They are all ex-military, and should be used to making tactical decisions to beat the enemy. Covid-19 is the enemy, take action now to defeat it! 

He's now done his bit...issued guidelines, and of course, no policing....just another of the retired, dyed hair, military morons.

What is this guy thinking I think it’s a little bit too late most of the people already left to go back to their villages in their home to spread the virus so good thinking a little too late though TIT

My 90 days notice was up for renewal friday last week. Since immigration has made no announcements, I decided to protect myself and send a younger local motorbike taxi driver to do the renewal, which cost me 200 Baht. Unlike a previous 90 days notification, this time a Power og Attorney was required, so he had to go back and get that and I had to pay twice. As usual the online 90 days notification didn´t work.

There we go, that will stop the virus in its tracks! Add to that most wont comply with any of it. I thought the hot weather in Thailand was a natural preventative according to????. All be over by April wasn’t it supposed to be? All under control wasn’t it! Getting angry when the rest of the world said the numbers were too low. It’s a pity, there are some very intelligent Thai people, my dentist for one. Unfortunately they are trapped in a country run by absolute ........ Ill leave you to fill in the gap with your personal expletive.

Too late! -you should have thought about issuing this statement last weekend! DID you see the bus terminalS?

What would you have suggested in this situation daiwill60....... as so many places (especially bars massage parlors etc) are also their accommodation. There not going to run air electric etc just for them to sleep there, also  many of those workers are solo Mum's have not seen their children , sometimes for months to a year---& worried about their aged parents who look after them-------they were always going to head home.

 

I am reading that a lot of the east Europeans are doing  the same thing in London as  it closes up.
