March 23 2020 My trip to Chaeng Wattana to get a Extension of Stay for my Non O for Marriage.

I have a expiring entry on my Multi entry Non O from Marriage to a Thai that I got from Vietnam in October 2019. I am a US citizen. This is the second entry that I used as the first one lasted the full 90 days. I did a quick hop over to Hong Kong in December 2019 and then got it extended for another 90 days when I came back the same day. 

 

So my entry was going to expire on the 28th of March 2019 so I had booked a flight to Kuala Lumpur back in February but since all of the AirAsia flights have been cancelled I could not go there or anywhere to get my Non O reset to another 90 days. 

 

I decided to get a extension of stay for 60 days to visit my wife/family at Chaeng Wattana Immigration Complex in Bangkok. I wanted to get there as early as possible was hoping for 7:30am as they opened at 8:30am. But since the wife is on Thai time I did not get to there until 8:30am. Well at that time I was number 794 in the queue to get the queue. 

 

You have to get a queue to wait in line before they allow you to show your documents to figure what area you will have to wait in. I was in "L" area for extension of stay for family. I was only number 67 in that queue. 

 

The first queue (794) took about 1.5 hours to be able to enter the immigration area. When I got my queue for the "L" section I was only number 67. But they have a schedule of allowing only certain amount of people in because of limited seating for "Social Distancing" every other seat had a paper on it saying "NO!" My number L67 was alloted a time of 1-2:00pm that they would allow me to enter the area since that is when they think I would be called. I was hoping to get in before the lunch break but they only got to 61 so I had to wait until after lunch. 

 

I finally got called at about 2:45pm and these are the documents that I presented

 

Copy of my passport main page

Original Passport

Copy of my TM6 entry card

Original TM6 card

Copy of my entry Stamp, which was the Non-O VISA and the last time I came back from Hong Kong in December

Copy of my Marriage Certificate

Brought the original as well but they did not need it.

Copy of my Wife's ID

Original ID but they did not ask to see it.

Copy of a document that shows we were married will have your information along with your wife's Not sure of the name of the document but the staff needed it to complete the extension. It will also show if you were previously married. It has official seals on it front and back.

Copy of my wife's house book

Did not bring the original and they did not ask for it, but they have in the past.

Copy of the lease agreement that is in my wife's name for the house we rent in Bangkok, signed by the owner with a copy of her ID

 

They looked at all of the documents, I signed all of them and put my phone number on each one. My wife did the same for her documents. They made me sign a document about over stay and collected the 1,900 and then we had to wait about 10 minutes to get my passport back.

 

I would strongly recommend you get to the Immigration as early as you can. As the queue numbers to get in to the immigration area stop at 999 and then you have to line up and it will be what they allow for the day. The line was so long for the people without numbers that it extended into the great big hall area. I heard people coming in when I was leaving just shocked at the line. 

 

Before I would go in the afternoon and have to wait a few hours. But now that is not possible as they will tell you to come back early the next day.

 

This is just my recent experience and I cannot give any advice other then figure out what documents you need and arrive as early as you can. 

 

Also all of the food places are open but no seats are available. They have tables but no seats. I just hung out at the bank as my wife had to take care of some things and they still have seats inside.

 

Almost 100% of the people are wearing masks so just to let you know.

Thanks for the info, I’m kinda in the same boat as you except my 90 expires mid April and I’m up northeast so I shouldn’t have to deal with the crowd(as far as I know). I’ve been told a few different  things as to what all one needs to bring so your info is much appreciated. Thanks.

No TM 30 needed to be shown?

The only thing I needed to show was what I mentioned in my post. They did not ask to see a TM 30.

Yes you can also get 60 days extension to visit your kids. Just have to bring their documents, and your child with you.

Yes you have to bring your wife with you. That is why I got there when they opened, I wanted to get there at 7:30 but my wife was on her own time.

Its crazy, i stay about 10 years on/off in thailand. And every time i did a Visa Bounce after 90 days.

Becasue i didnt know about this 60 days extension.

I feel mad about this "Visa Run Comapnies" sure they wont tell me this,

so they can sell more trips. Maybe i get out something good about this crisis 555.

Do you think its realy necessary to bring my to kids , i dont want to expose unnecessary risks.

f you are getting a extension of stay for 60 days because you have Thai children then you need to bring the child, you don't have to bring all of your children just the one you are submitting the paper work for.
