the difference is the country is depending on mr trump to deal with the virus situation.

he really needs to get his **** together and stop playing reality teevee star.  time to set aside the petty vindictiveness, stop pretending it's all about him all the time.  he can open the briefings, then let the experts take over.  sit down and shut up.

biden on the other hand is just a washed-up has-been wandering through his mansions bumping his noggin on the low ceilings.

And they are the best Presidential 'candidates' that the mighty USA can muster ...... ?

Why is that?

Thanks for your explanation.

In a way I understand what you write and I know that when people voted for Trump the alternative wasn't a real alternative.

But as far as I know Americans vote in their political parties for the presidential candidates. That takes many months and with lots of candidates. Why don't the people vote for anybody better in that phase of the election?

And why are there no other parties which represent the people?

I know a big part is the money. From the view of other countries Americans spend tremendous amounts to get elected.

But would a good candidate with little money really have no chance?

I.e. even if Trump would spend 100 times more than anybody else I can't imagine voting for him. He is such an embarrassment.

Part of the reason for limited options is that candidates need hundreds of millions of dollars to stage a campaign, Meaning that 99%, especially folks with limited funds, cannot ever become a real candidate. So much for the tenants of democracy.

After nearly 4 years everyone should be used to Trump riffing at the podium. He doesn't just read carefully prepared BS that sounds wonderful yet says nothing from a teleprompter, sad that such an inane and lazy approach won so many fans in years gone by. OK, so Trump mixes up the words germ and virus, big deal. It's nothing compared to Biden's daily word salads. What's with the sudden wave of pedantic outrage? Ah yes, just another excuse to bash Donald John Trump.

Make all the excuses you like but the man is a danger, the only time he says anything sensible is when he is using the telepromter and not adlibing how wonderful he is. I guess you are fine with the guy setting on his a-- for 3 weeks talking nonsense while the virus was free to get a head start.

MAGA< I hope all those who has purchased the merchandise, put them into a bag not to see the light of day, until their grandchildren find them when cleaning out after your death.

Unfortunately the toll continues to rise, it is the highest in the world currently. ????

I hope that there is some investigation (after the crisis subsides) into the timelines of knowledge (already out there) about the virus alerting the Administration had and failed to act on, costing lives and brining heart ache to too many.

People need to accept responsibilty for their roles and incompetences.

Why is that?

Trump... the first crack in the neocon/neoliberal consensus...and he will be back for four more. Why?

The smiling Obama....civil...mild mannered eloquent in speech, and threw the country down a hole.

Bush2 before him... prominant family.....pushed forward by the GOP surrounded by Neocons... that went well.

Non-Americans here don't have a clue what's really going on in the USA.

Enough!

1. Nobody has suggested anything like the clown sending people to the Goulag not that he has murdered anybody, just your attempt to deflect from the topic.

2, The American public have every right to expect that their president is sincere and focused, not playing humour games with anybody and especially during an epidemic and many thousands of Americans are dying.

I deflect from nothing, an inference was made about people around Trump living in fear of repercussions. Something which has been brought up repeatedly for the same purpose to obfuscate obvious facts and plant seeds of doubt that the facts only appear to be truth. Such as the President of Ukraine saying he was not pressured by Trump. The planted meme is that surely Zelensky was in fact lying because surely he was in fear of repercussions....and on it goes.

This pandemic is, and has been, an unfolding crisis which the President and his team is handling. No doubt better methods perhaps could have been used, mistakes have been made, as in EVERY CRISIS. And after every crisis a LESSONS LEARNED is developed.

Tossing out nonsense about grownups being afraid of the President is nothing more then scary fairy tales made up from the stream of consciousness drival of those suffering from that well known condition absent from the DSM-5. That is the point  made clearly. Clear as glass. I just made it again for those with issues seeing clearly.

Well yeah, I threw in voting to speak directly to those raving non-American idiots who are concerned 24/7 with what happens in a country they will never cast a vote in, ....

.....or as a jab at whinging crying Americans who likewise are obsessed with the current President to show them the easy way to change for those who desire.

Again, its a pandemic emergency. Mistakes are always made in emergencies. But strangly, am not concerned with what global political leaders do in Countries in which have no effect on my life. Like UK, AUS, NZ, Germany or France as examples.

Always fascinated, however, by the obsessions non-Americans have with the USA.

Isn't it funny how we all remember things differently. I remember Trump banning Chinese arrivals while the opposition was calling him a racist for having done so, because this virus they said is like the flu. The opposition at that time were busy celebrating their gold engraved hoax impeachment commemorative pens and Pelosi was encouraging people to flock to San Fran Chinatown to prove(erroneously) crowds were safe.

Luckily it is very much a matter of public record that Trump took the virus very seriously at an early stage, and the opposition did not. Of course now they are playing politics and games trying to pretend the opposite happened. It will never work, the tweets and news articles are all date stamped.

Your version of "public record" does not stack up to the reality......but since when have truth and reality been part of trump & co's agenda.

A week after the first coronavirus case had been identified in the United States, and six long weeks before President Donald Trump finally took aggressive action to confront the danger the nation was facing……

Throughout January, as Trump repeatedly played down the seriousness of the virus and focused on other issues, an array of figures inside his government — from top White House advisers to experts deep in the Cabinet departments and intelligence agencies — identified the threat, sounded alarms and made clear the need for aggressive action.

The president, though, was slow to absorb the scale of the risk and to act accordingly…..

https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/news/article.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=12324545

And so much more out there......

The Trump administration spent vital months floundering and ignoring expert advice as the coronavirus spread through the United States. Emails from January show health experts warned US officials the country was headed towards a catastrophe, but the administration delayed implementing any kind of restrictions until mid-March.

The country's top infectious disease expert, Dr Anthony Fauci, has agreed the dire situation could have been lessened if shutdowns had happened earlier, but he said health officials had to contend with "push back" from the government.

You must be reading, hearing and watching different media to the rest of the known world.

Perhaps reading and listening to Dr Faucci, who is sidelined by POTUS even in press conferences often would inform a non partisan opinion. Sometimes an open mind is a good thing.

spin away, like I said the date stamps will stop the lies. Trump was all over this virus as the opposition were still playing silly games.

He never said that. You know that. What he said was an analogy of the coverage of the pandemic being similiar to how the Russian Hoax was covered. Again you know this already but repeating a lie for you does not matter:

Please outline what mitigating actions POTUS took, the dates, the implementation of those actions.

Deflecting to the other parties does not support what he DID.

The families of the dead and infected are not interested in what others did, during crisis people look to the leaders to lead.

Biden, Pelosi et al are not occupying the WH, DJT is.

Deflection appears to be an epigenetic trait here, must have occurred by osmosis

The big picture: At least 430,000 people have flown to the U.S. from China since Dec. 31, when China first informed the World Health Organization about cases of novel coronavirus in Wuhan, the Times reports.

https://www.axios.com/coronavirus-trump-china-travel-ban-45a2da12-8063-4ad9-ba28-61cdeb1ce0b3.html

Details: 279 flights from China have arrived in the U.S. since Trump's travel restrictions were announced, "and screening procedures have been uneven," the Times notes.

Yes some were return USA citizens, but how many were ordered into self isolation?

How many tests carried out on returnees/

These are valid questions which need valid factual answers, not by you, but by the WH

You can try to spin this away, but it is out in the public domain for all to see, that trump stated Covid was less perilous than the flu.......then was over-ruled 2 days later!! The circus leader in chief strikes again. Lol.............

On Monday March 9th, when Trump tweeted that the coronavirus was not as perilous as the flu, he said, “So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that!”

Two days later, Anthony Fauci, head of infectious diseases at the National Institutes of Health and a member of Trump’s task force on the outbreak, said the coronavirus was far more deadly.

Yet incredibly on January 31, 2020 during the impeachment, Trump declared a public health emergency and restrictions on China travel went into effect starting February 2, 2020. Restrictions that China and the corrupted WHO asked not to implement.

More stuff the MSM won't tell you.
