Thai provinces extend ban on alcohol sales

Provincial governors throughout Thailand have extended their respective bans on the sale of alcoholic beverages.

While most provinces have been under an alcohol ban for more than one week, many of the orders originally issued had been due to expire before or on April 20.

In recent days, most provinces have now extended their alcohol ban to April 30.

Late on Thursday, the governor of Chiang Mai announced the extension of the alcohol ban to April 30, while Surat Thani, Krabi and Trat have also recently announced their alcohol bans would also be extended.

Some provinces are yet to make an announcement regarding an extension to alcohol bans but it is highly likely any ban will be extended to April 30 for all provinces nationwide.

Bangkok’s alcohol ban is officially due to end on April 20 with any announcement regarding a possible extension likely to be made in the coming days.

Here’s when the alcohol ban will end in your province.

Good!  Less accidents and domestic violence!  ????

Sheesh, including today if I drink my normal daily quota, I will have 3 spare bottles on the 30th, unless my missus sneaks down a few.

It's a tough regimen, but I am determined not to go dry.

Pretty obvious what it achieves if you really stop to think about it.

This ban isn't all about falang lol it's about the Thai population. You know the people of the country you live in

But what makes Thailand so special compared to the rest of the world that its citizens aren't allowed to go and buy some beers to have at home with their dinner?

If this so called By you Childish ban saves one person from getting Covid-19 . Then it's achieved its aim

Didn't think you would sit and think about it. But not to worry

0.6 per million of the population are dying here. Under 1 person out of every 1,000,000.

The furor is incredible.

Still yet to be given any reason as to why only Thailand needs to impose and now seemingly extend an alcohol ban whilst other nations do not.

Edit: The alcohol ban over Songkran made sense to stop parties. That has now ended.

Still believing the B/S narrative?? ????

I'm only a very occasional light drinker myself, but I can understand those who need it daily.

But one must have been blind, if didn't notice that the Thais was stocking up on alcohol as never before, before the ban and lockdown started.

Do you seriously believe that? if so you need to advocate stopping any activity that could result in injury or death!

Missed that, where I live the locals used to work and exist day to day, no money to stock up nor would the local shops have the stock for people to "stock" up!

They love an alcohol ban here.

Did I get off at Saudi by accident? ????

the ban came right after all the stories about the Thais partying till all hours of the night during curfew.

that is why it was banned.

In theory an alcohol ban was probably a good idea, but in practice everybody knows what is going to happen, a lot of dry citizens are going to be buying alcohol like there is no tomorrow when the ban is finally lifted. There will be belated parties, friends meeting up and drinking a skinfull and basically making up for lost time. Whereas if there hadn't been a ban in the first place people would have just have carried on as normal and just enjoyed a quiet drink at home.

So that was the justification, thanks for the clarification ????

The 1.54 million people who are under curfew in UT will be pleased to know that, the TWO people in hospital will also be pleased.

WHO is run by the same people running Thailand.

Hardly surprising they will be telling the same story.

Only 1.54milion under curfew ?

I thought that number would be a lot higher... is the curfew not country wide ?

WHO are they considered a viable source or are they now fake news? Given the obvious mess they have made of the affair to date and their connection to Bill Gates.

I haven't lost any drinking time at all.

Would be surprised if anyone else was (barring a few numpty foreigners too old to shop anywhere but large chain supermarkets)

This is completely idiotic.  This is just going to send people back into Bangkok to bogart the supplies here
