Residents of Ban Han Sai village in Saraburi province broke down in tears after their homes were completely destroyed by the storm on the night of Thursday (April 16), which is believed to have been the worst since 1972.

So far, the destruction has been valued at Bt200,000.

Aranyaprathet district chief worked with the Army, volunteers and several organisations on Friday to help the victims.

Klomree Hanphom, 63, could not hold back her tears when she recounted the experience.

She said she had to protect her grandchildren as her son tried to hold the door against the strong gusts of wind, which blew away the roof of their home.

Hail stones also shattered all windows of the house. Klomree’s husband Boonchoo said the family barely escaped the massive storm.

I just seen the rest of the pictures. Very lucky for no Loss of life. Devastation on an epic scale.

Very sad but damage costing Bt200,000 doesn't seem that high.

I just had to remove a ceiling after termites brought it down. Even painting the underside of the floor above and re-doing the light wiring cost me over 30,000. Putting up a new ceiling would probably have cost another 40-50,000. So yes, perhaps they meant 2 million baht, not 200,000.

But we read so often of roofs being blown off. The two houses next to me lost some of theirs a couple of weeks ago. The problem is with the large overhang, maybe to provide shade, they are almost designed to invite high winds to come from underneath and lift the roof off.
