Popular Post OnTheGround
Add on curfew from 2200 and these days has been a blast - of silence. Can buy food daytime. No retard loud racing all night long. No karaoke bar blasting horrible wannabe singers. Didn't enjoy songkran when I was in my 30s and moved here. Sure don't miss it now either. Songkran 2020 is the best ever -:) 16 2 2

Popular Post KhunBENQ
For years there was no unbearable madness in the village. Mainly some kids throwing buckets of water here and there. And yes, I also avoided trips to the district city or even further due to the risk on the roads. But on the other side: no family get together, no traditional ceremony, no feast. It was the saddest Songkran since I am here. 5 1
Popular Post TaaSaparot
Why does everyone think Songkran has been cancelled for 2020, when it has just been suspended? As far as I can see the usual whingers will get plenty to whinge about, just later in the year. 1 4 2

Did you actually go out of the door? Not after 10pm I wager. I get that your OP is tongue in cheek, but the situation is more glum than you paint it. 1
Popular Post jimmjam
After these restrictions are lifted, you will be in for a shock. It will be songkran but pumped up to 10000× what it would be. Hope you have your scuba gear and rations ready.????

JusticeGB
I first booked a flight from Utapao to Saigon with Vietjet they stopped flying that route and I had to wait 6 weeks for a refund. Then, again to avoid songkran, I booked a flight to Manilla on 15th April for 10 days back in February. That flight also got cancelled as Thailand began to stop all incoming flights. PAL airlines will take 3 months to refund me. But at least I will get a refund on a non refundable ticket and have avoided the worst excesses of Songkran.
Don Mega
As usual during the Songkran week off work, way way too much booze consumed and not a single drop of water other than when I went out to my pool to splash around. Love this time of the year !!

TikiT
Is this topic even allowed??? Bragging about how quiet everything is on Songkran during an international tragedy? This is destroying the world economy but I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it probably no different than any other holiday for some. This is a pretty shameful statement I’m glad you had a nice quiet holiday because of a deadly pathogen. Edited April 18, 2020 by TikiT 1

I guess the same way Songkran is celebrated each year and hundreds more die on the roads because of it over the holiday period. Because Its these Thais take every advantage to celebrate a holiday even if its not their holiday like Christmas which they dont even know anything about it except santa clause. Don't think moving songkron a few months up the calendar is going to effect anyone one.

As it is tied to Buddha's Birthday, that doen't make sense.
