I think across the world it's just a case of living with the waves and the risk of catching it, life must go on otherwise countries will go bankrupt

Thailand has barely had a first wave.

When they lift the curfews and restrictions, it's going to be one hell of a second wave!

You'r just a good as covid 19 expert as all the other TV members with a reaction like this so your comment doesn't make sence . This is a forum so people can say what they think and you can agree or disagree with whatever you want that's the whole point . Has nothing to do with experts or not .

The problem is that people are expressing strong opinions on a disease which nobody really knows much about.  They act like they are sure of the correct course of action we should all take based on hunches and 'alternative facts' to suit their pre-existing point of view. Unless you have access to the accurate raw data or have expertise in epidemiology or and/or economics, our opinions are really useless when trying to hypothesize on the correct course of action for Thailand. At least you should go to some primary sources and read up on studies written by qualified experts and quote them if you think you have a good plan and ideas. 'It's just like the flu', or 'more people die on the roads', or 'the cure is worse than the disease' arguments are generally regurgitated from some sensational tabloid or alt right website piece off facebook. Many of these posters love to have their cake and eat it. They argue in favour of opening up the economy while quoting the supposedly relative low numbers as evidence, when in most places these low numbers can be attributed towards shutting the economy down in the first place. Contact tracing and prevention of spread of a novel virus is pretty much agreed upon by world experts as the most prudent action if we are going to beat the disease. We really don't know the long term consequences of letting the virus loose in society in the long term. Maybe it will fizzle out, maybe there will be herd immunity. Equally, it could become more deadly and there is no immunity and no vaccine at all. Nobody knows and that is my point. It is interesting to speculate on the reported low number of cases in Thailand but some people who've had no education in this subject or given it no thought before 2020 at all suddenly have all the answers. In my defence, I did do one course in epidemiology as a freshman in 1985 and it was very interesting but also humbling with the statistics getting very complicated. They lost me at chi-square and no, that isn't chi as in China lol!

It's amazing that a small city state,  Singapore has more than 5,000 cases of the coronavirus now. They reported 623 new cases on Friday after a record 728 on Thursday, when the number of Covid-19 infections doubled over a week.

Fair Warning!!! If I see any Chinese tour buses anytime soon in Pattaya, I will be calling a good friend of mine who works in US State Department back home in WAshington, DC. And I will let him, and the rest of the world know just how corrupt, incompetent and money hungry the Thai Government really is!  #Americafirst2020  #Chinapurge2020

Singapore is divided, rich & poor, they took care of the "rich" initially and left the "poor" predominately immigrant workers (AKA slaves) to continue working and living in poor crowded conditions in worker camps, 12 to a dormitory at best, now it is biting them in the bottom!

Don't take it so personally when people offer up their opinion in an online forum. People will always form opinions based on information they receive, they don't have to be experts to make assumptions and/or conclusions based upon what they have read. That's the beauty of an online forum, it's not a court of law, we are not politicians who will be held to account, we can just chew the fat and put the world to rights. I don't fancy being in a world where people can't do that.

That must be reassuring for you. However head to the hotspots where clusters were found and its a different story with hospitals full and staff stretched. In Phuket they drafted in an extra 50 medics to help from Songkhla and in Bangkok major covid specialist hospitals are full. No Charade I assure you

oh, first time I have heard of hospitals being stretched in Thailand, not doubting you it's just most reports are hospitals are empty. Guess we will all have to wait, the truth about things cannot stay hidden forever.

33 is a good number in the grand scheme of things.  If you perform some odd calculations then you'll arrive at the winning lottery numbers.

The UK government assembled the Nightingale hospitals and barely a taker.  Go figure.

Many Thai people returned, maybe that’s why the number jumps. Close all borders until summer to prevent more covid 19.  Of course you let only Thais come back.

What is the reason to close till summer?

There are still plenty of cars around where I am actually haven't noticed any difference but lets say 20 lives are save each day and about 28 days of lockdown so the 7-8 days of silly season usually kills about 400 and the other 20 days yields another 400 so maybe about 800 lives which is significant but not in the thousands. There I've done the numbers how'd I do?

Not sure you can save 20 lives a day, considering the total deaths In Thailand as of April 15 are less than 50

Singapore forces their 200,000 migrant workers to live in fenced-in compounds by the thousands, where covid-19 is running rampant.

Can Thailand go bankrupt with its billions of dollars in reserve ?

Only if the "billions of dollars" in reserve are actually there.

Same as the trillion or so baht stashed in the welfare system, [boasting that accrual was due to past payments being minimal due to high employment rates] yet they are denying payment to thousands and allowing the public to go begging for handouts of food and money on the streets from charitable donations.

Call me a skeptic if you will, but I have an inclination that the coffers are empty or Thailand has been boasting about riches it does not posses.

It's just a flu and here's an antibody study done by experts though it's still to early it is pointing in that direction.

All is not lost! They can always revert to the scrap value of their numerous tanks, APC's, aircraft carriers and submarines at approx. 18 baht per kilo! They might even throw in Thai Airways!

Well the US States of Texas, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Vermont are starting to open up, and protestors are defying the social distancing initiative in order to get back to normalcy......Seems the Donald is even backing them.

Maybe someone here is sensing this and wants to join the club, but then WTFK what will happen tomorrow.  Life here has always been about different rules for different walks of life.

So, I went to the World Medical Hospital on Friday, near Thong Mueang Thani and I think I was the only Patient there, and we went up and down the floors. Staff everywhere, large posters everywhere telling you how and why to do social distancing, washing your hands, and many other "rules".

So, does this make my remark 100% proof that the Hospitals are mostly empty? Or, because I don't have a Fancy "tital" next to my name , the Mod will delete my post, because he don't like "facts" either? And there are many videos online, from reliable sources, many i know, of many, many more empty Hospitals? TV News channels have been busted many times showing videos made in other countries, and claiming it to be at their Hospitals.

Example: A video showing men digging a very big trench and then laying bodies in it. Then claiming so many are dying, they can only dig holes and drop bodies in it, Well, a MSM ran this same video and claimed the same. Well, the original video was from a foreign country where this proceedure is common, because this is at a Prison, where the dead Prisoners are baried like this if no one claims their body. Its a free burial.

A huge explosion at a Kentucky fireworks factory was used to show that "the war has started against Syria and look at all the bombs exploding. Or videos of a independant Journalist driving around to visit the Hospitals the Media is telling us are all over crowded..all are empty.  All MSM News channels are lies and fake News,  especially when they are all owned by the same corporations.

Not sure what the proves other than the hospital you visited was not full. I've not seen anyone on the forums here claiming all hospitals are full. Even the massive new Nightingale Hospitals built for severe case Covid patients in the UK are empty. Head to the cluster areas where there have been hotspots of cases then thats a different matter, be that here in Thailand or anywhere else in the world.

And only certain hospitals here in Thailand are treating actual COVID patients.  The private hospitals I have never seen full, now the government provincial hospitals that is a different story, they are always full and have ques of those waiting to see doctors, at least in the provinces I have lived in and still have friends in....

Wow, a conspiracy to stop you and all the others who know the truth, I never would have believed it possible.  Not sure where you get your info from but sometimes its better to take everything with a grain of salt.

Well, at least you are honest about it.

So Thailand is boasting the lowest infection rates in the world ?  But this Government is in 1st place for one Award

I seen this coming several yrs ago. In 1997 when i first came here, a Thai could not get a credit card. As soon as they started issueing them, and telling Thais "Spend and be happy, Thai property will continue to raise and we can all Sa Bai, Sa Bai. Teachers, and Government  workers were encouraged to "borrow" and "don't worry". How many Thais have you heard from saying "I cannot afford  to retire, i have too much debt"? I have heard this many times. The same thing goes on almost every where. The Banks work with the Governments who will only allow "good news" to come out, while fudging all the real numbers. Same as the US did during the Housing "Boom". I seen the writing on the wall, and it was June 2006 when the indicators showed me it was all coming down. I closed my Business and "sold the building w/ land" for almost 5 times what I had paid 20 yrs earlier. The Government hid the truth and lied about the Housing Markets until in 2008 when they finally admitted there was a problem. Many lost everything..many just packed a bag and left during the night. Remember when Thais were encourages to learn English so they could get all those good paying "ASEIAN" jobs? Well, they never got much for "jobs" because the building companies were all Chinese and they brought their chinese workers. A couple years later, Thais were encouraged to be Proud of their "Nationalism" and told to wear Thai costumes. Sabai Sabai
