Fortunately we're in Thailand ? In Holland the government pays 90% of the wages of laid-off staff. 

Here me and my wife both lost our jobs in the Hotel - tour industry. No wages. 

We also run a little restaurant, which has 0 business at the moment. So we also had to let go of our staff, and keep one living in in a basic fee, since we make no money and lost our jobs as well.

Don't know how you can compare these two totally different places / situations.

What makes you say that, there are 9 provinces with no reported cases why do we not hear from anybody from these provinces saying one of their families have had the vires, also up to yesterday 35 provinces have not had 1 reported case in over 14 days. I live in 1 of these provinces and my wife works in a restaurant doing take away food and she as not heard of anybody that knows somebody with the virus and she does ask people and Thai gossip is much quicker than any government news

Today morning traffic is almost back to normal, and I am concerned. While the number of new cases are falling, those are new cases, which means people STILL are getting infected daily. Considering that the incubation period is 2 - 4 weeks, and how many gatherings there has been since, I'm afraid there might be a big spike coming soon. A new spike after the lifting of the lockdown and curfew will certainly be detrimental to the world's view of Thailand's management of the virus. 

 

I'd rather hurt a little longer and ensure that there are no new cases before the lifting of the lockdown. Because if there's another outbreak, I can guarantee you that the next lockdown will be a lot more restrictive and longer. Wouldn't waiting another month be better then having to wait another 2 or 3? 

 

I'm not financially well off. The tour company I work in started only a year ago, and just as we started reaping the benefits of our hard work, it all went down the drain. For the past 2 months in a row, we have earned exactly 0 THB. I'm frustrated, I've got a massive pay cut, I've cut down on my expenses and I'm living on a razor's edge, and I know it will get worse if another lockdown comes into effect.

 

So I understand how difficult it is. I know there are people way worse off than me, but it could go a lot worse if this isn't managed carefully.

How are they going to control this. Open up the borders say to Countries like America that do not have it under control and your going to get a spike in numbers again. Only takes a few boxing ring events to get this all off and started again. How can this virus ever be contained.

 

Like I said yesterday, any Government is between a rock and a hard spot.

I'm sure the government are all over this issue now they've seen what can happen in Singapore.

Singapore in general still has it under control. Only the migrant worker camps are an issue and they wete sealed off in pretty quick order.

 

thailand could well have the same issue, as you say, but if they don’t get tested we will never know. Very few will go to hospital, many are illegals and certainly no money to pay.

Thailand testing is showing less that 2% being infected in people that go to hospital thinking they have the virus so who do you think they should test all 77 million people

Even if somebody is showing symptoms, especially outside a large town/city they are just given a bag of pills and told to go home.

Then if they deteriorate and die the cause of death would be lung infection/pneumonia, NOT Chinese flu, as they would not have been tested

That could easily be 10,000+ people

But 98% of people they do test with symptoms show negative sometimes you have to trust people that know more than yourself

Random testing in all provinces is the only way to go, it gives a much better level of validity than we have now.

Yes I was thinking that myself that it might be a good idea but starting with the 9 provinces that have not had any cases yet working through the other provinces that not had the virus for a long time to see a comparison

That's right - even those who are considered 'at risk' are tested and most are negative. Randomly testing the population is a waste of time. That's a different situation in Italy, UK, NY, etc, where the probablity of finding positive cases is much higher.

It depends on where the cases are occuring. Many provinces have less than 10 recorded cases, and many people in those areas are not so strict with social distancing/masks etc. Bangkok and surrounding provinces need to reduce their levels, further in my opinion. 30 cases can quickly escalate in precautions are not taken.
