Popular Post webfact
E-cigarettes are bad for spreading the virus says minister after Bangkok market raid Picture Ban Muang Thailand's Office of the Consumer Protection Board raided ten shops in the Klong Thom market in Bangkok on Sunday where traders were selling e-cigarettes. More than one million baht's worth of e-cigarettes, vaping fluid and accessories were seized. Prime minister's office minister Tewan Liptaphallop said those selling the items faced prison for three years and fines of 600,000 or both for contravening 1979 consumer laws. He told Ban Muang that smoking e-cigarettes at this time posed a further risk to public health because infected people might breath out droplets in their smoke right into the face of others. E-cigarettes were banned a long time ago, purely to protect the profits of the Thai Tobacco Monopoly ! Now, quite conveniently, they are bringing it into the Covid-19 argument, to justify the ban ! Surely smoking cigarettes also entails exhaling, but there is no vendors getting arrested, with threats of 3 years jail, or 600,000 baht fines ! 18

They say that’s because vaping and smoking damages the lungs and makes it more difficult for a person to fight off COVID-19." But I didn't see any evidence of Prime minister's office minister Tewan Liptaphallop's claim in the main article: 43 minutes ago, webfact said: He told Ban Muang that smoking e-cigarettes at this time posed a further risk to public health because infected people might breath out droplets in their smoke right into the face of others. Snackbar
E-cigs are not illegal to use in Thailand. At least one post on TripAdviser with confirmation from tourism minister. It is illegal to sell e-cig products . Like most thing here depends who’s doing the selling.

Popular Post shy coconut
The vapour exhaled from e cigs comes from deeper in the lungs and has more particles for a virus to attach itself to, so it is more likely to spread the plague than someone exhaling a normal breath of air. I'm not saying that this raid was purely to prevent the spread of the virus, but there is some scientific truth involved. 3 1 1

PG (propylene glycol) as used in vaping as the base for liquid is a known desinfectant for VIRUSES and bacteria, that's why those fogging machines you see used to desinfect are filled with it. It's shown to be effective against influenza viruses for example: https://science.sciencemag.org/content/94/2452/612 and bacteria: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2135271/ The US military uses it for example against contaminations and air disinfaction in hospital. PG is an alcohol: https://books.google.co.th/books?id=VWqgAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA545&lpg=PA545&dq=PG+vapor+hospital+ward&source=bl&ots=2kXrS_7Rlp&sig=ACfU3U0YVWWRaOoc7pewNnwBxawtednVjw&hl=en&sa=X&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=PG vapor hospital ward&f=false So the very desinfectant we use since World War 2 to kill viruses is now spreading viruses, i am not going to believe any of the rubbish that gets published nowadays anymore. Besides that there's research that ace2 espression which gets upregulated by nicotine COULD BE helpful AGAINST covid: https://www.qeios.com/read/article/561 PS: Not criticizing your post, just adding more info. We don't know enough and all of these charlatans who claim something are talking out of their ass and i get so extremely tiring to reading their bs. 9 1

WineOh
but real cigs are ok? How about banning them as well? May as well just ban anything remotely fun. Can I still j**k off or do I need to confirm with you lot beforehand?

Due to you taking deeper breaths, you will be more likely to have the virus taken into your lungs. They know what they are talking about, even though point 3 hasn't really been discussed yet. 1

Yes smokers are known to have the best lung capacity that's why all professional apnoe divers are heavy smokers. grumpy 4680
Amazing how can one country have so many moronic ministers just expressing their own opinions, with absolutely no knowledge or proof of what they say. Stargeezr
I have noticed that when a lots of e smokers blow out their white vapor clouds, that is what they do. They blow out their breath, not just breath out naturally. For the posters who have not seen this, they must either be blind, or maybe they are the e smokers. I have always hated seeing smokers, or e smokers doing this, while likely thinking somehow that their action is cool, or hip, or some other delusion.
