My first extension of stay expires on May 21. I have just received my new passport (my old one was to expire on May 29). I read somewhere that you can't transfer the visa to the new passport and must apply for a renewal on the new passport. What is the process and more importantly the time frame for doing this. Are there any fines applied if I wait.

You can do the stamp transfer from you old passport to the new one the same day you apply for your extension and they will do the extension in your new passport after the needed stamps are transferred to the new one.

You will need a copy of both passport photo pages and copies of your visa, entry stamp, and curent extension stamp in your old pasport. Some offices may want a copy of every page of your old passport that has a visa or stamp for Thailand on it.

They will do a stamp in your new passport with spaces for info about the visa used for entry and your old passport.

You will need a letter from embassy requesting the transfer and this form completed. Transfer Stamps To A New Passport

There is no set time to do it or fine for doing it late.
