The Sadao border checkpoint in Songkhla province will be closed for seven days after one immigration staff and one police officer contracted Covid-19.

Songkhla Governor Jaruwat Kliangklao issued the closure order on Wednesday (April 22).

The two reportedly became infected after a row with a truck driver from Malaysia on April 9.

According to Immigration Division 6 supervisor, Pol Maj-General Peerawat Boonloy, the staff were checking cargo trucks entering the border checkpoint. "The driver of a truck from Malaysia refused to have his temperature taken and started shouting at him,” he said. “The Immigration officer went to see a doctor on April 19 because he felt feverish, only to learn later in the day that he had been infected.”

The governor said that the checkpoint would be thoroughly disinfected during the period of closure. “Thais in Malaysia who wish to enter the country during the next week should use the Padang Besar checkpoint instead, which is also located in Sadao district,” he said.

I hope the officers reported the Malaysian trucker to their own as well as the Malaysian authorities - the truck's registration number, passport details and all. The recalcitrant baboon should be tested before he infects others, if indeed he is CVD19-positive, and the officers did not get it from other truckers or elsewhere.
