4MyEgo
Wow, my calculator just fitted in his 456,800,000,000 worth and I am sure the Thai's will be humble to accept his 0.021891418% contribution, even if it's under a single % digit. Very generous of him, Kop Koon Krup.

I'm pretty sure many farangs are reaching into their wallets a bit more now that wives and family members are out of work. I know I am, and it's certainly a lot more than .1% of my vast fortune. ???? Fortunately I'll be teaching online next month. Savings are running low, so I've been busting out the Visa other than the one in my passport, to load up on the meats, noodles, trays of eggs, and frozen french fries for the kids at Big C. I'm just lucky not to be that guy in the most popular thread right now, expected to fund the GF's durian farm. ???? Charoen Pokphand Group patriarch Dhanin Chearavanont, Thailand’s richest man with a net worth of US$14.1 billion (456.8 billion baht), has spent Bt100 million of that money to build a factory making 100,000 free surgical masks per day for healthcare workers. I doubt all that happened ONLY AFTER Prayuth sent the letter last week, and building a factory and producing face masks is helping, and not just donating money isn't it. 25 minutes ago, billd766 said: Out of curiosity I wonder how ;much tax they pay after the accountants have gone through the books and found all the tax deductibles. spidermike007
Kudos to him for stepping up. Although they were rather vague about the rest of the super rich within Thailand. I wonder how many are really putting their money where their mouths are? Anyone heard any stories of others? Charoen Pokphand Group patriarch Dhanin Chearavanont, Thailand’s richest man with a net worth of US$14.1 billion (456.8 billion baht), has spent Bt100 million of that money to build a factory making 100,000 free surgical masks per day for healthcare workers. Several of Dhanin’s wealthy peers have also donated expensive medical equipment for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, particularly ventilators and negative pressure isolation rooms.

Oziex1
If the billionaires of the world had a social conscience many of the worlds ills would be under control, instead they create and invest in things that create illness and disharmony. I don't deny they try to do some good but their philanthropy just doesn't seem to be enough and for some it is little more than self promotion and a tax right off. Now if governments could get them to pay all the tax that is due, would things be different?

Guys, I see everybody is slightly confused. Charoen Pokphand Group patriarch Dhanin Chearavanont, Thailand’s richest man with a net worth of US$14.1 billion (456.8 billion baht), has spent Bt100 million.... So the guy made an investment of 100M baht, to produce masks to sell in his own shops (7-Eleven), and will give away 100,000 masks a day, probably the first day or two, to offset some tax. The rest, he will likely sell in 7-eleven for a margin of 2,000%, i.e pay 1 baht to make, sell with 20 baht (or whatever the numbers). This is an investment that will return a few more billion baht, producing masks is quite a profitable business during these times. Popular Post holy cow cm
I have to agree with lkv. In the end he got an easy fast track license to sell the masks. All he next needs to do is get ISO and factory certification and this he could fast track as well. The virus is an ongoing pandemic that has no sight of stopping in the near distant future. 100,000,000 baht is an investment and in actuality nothing more than in the end a write off. Anyone could consider it as he is getting free advertising for it that is well worth 100,000,000 or more in the end for his new venture. People like this do not do anything for the good will of the people without getting something back in return. Business 101. Now Toon of Body Slam sacrificed and went far and above being a lot for the hospitals and wanted zero in return.
