Thai billionaires dip into deep pockets to fight Covid-19

Not sour grapes at all.

Thank you for pointing out my error about the factory. My bad.

Good for him for doing that job, but how for long will the masks be free?

There is no such thing as a free lunch. If the factory runs at a loss he can claim for a tax relief which I am sure his accountants will do.

The tax relief would be a percentage of the loss so he’d still be losing money. The same goes for charitable donations. Do people on this forum have a problem with basic mathematics?

And what future strings/expectations are attached?

How do you think he got to be the richest man in Thailand?

Basic mathematics count for nothing here.

Creative accountancy is a much better way for rich people.

It is rarely what you know but who you know that makes you rich in Thailand.

Great, I'm glad you agree that he does with HIS money what he wants

Oh of course he can!

But please excuse me, that I am not wetting my pants over the laughable efforts and that I don't understand, why anyone would preise him!

And yet the GINI coefficient for the USA is significantly higher than it is for Thailand, indicating a more uneven distribution of wealth in the States than in Thailand (Australia and the UK are not far off Thailand’s figure). Maybe go home if you want to become a social activist rather than posting patently inaccurate rubbish on here?

Haven't we all waited for this?

"Go home if...."

For sure the billionaires will get a large return on these donations in terms of stimulus money fir their businesses and sweet deals from the government.

So the CP Group patriarch spends 0.02% of his net wealth on helping. Big <deleted> deal!!!

There is nothing wrong with his calculation. It represents 1/4560 of his wealth.

Maybe your abacus needs a battery change

My calculator tells me it's 2.189141856392294e-4. That is 0.0002189141856392294. Which translates to 0.02%. So, yeah, he's math is wrong.

check your math - it's way wrong.

Well, the maths my side look as follows:
100 Million of 456.8 Billion = 100'000'000 / 456'800'000'000 = 0.00021891418%

Obviously, you don't know how percentages work....

So 50 of 100 = 50/100=0.5% in your math, and not 50% as it really is.

You forgot to multiply with 100, as needed with percentage quotation. part of amount/amount X 100= percentage.

And if you want to calculate back from percentage , percentage/100 X amount= percentage amount.

Is Prayut a billionaire???
