The Chinese man suspected of murdering his flat mate at a luxury condominium in the Samut Prakan area of Thailand has already disappeared to China.

Zhang Li, 73, was found bludgeoned to death on March 30th. Investigators discovered the body three weeks later. There was a bloodstained 80 cm fire axe as well as a kitchen knife in the room.

CCTV showed 25 year old Wang Chao Chuan had gone into the corridor earlier in the day to get the axe from a cabinet.

He went back in the 19th floor room and emerged hours later carrying a bag.

He then flew back to China.

Police in Thailand have contacted the Chinese Embassy with a view to bringing the suspect back to Thailand to face murder charges.

The motive for the murder is as yet unknown.

Nobody saw or heard anything, reported 77kaoded.

Very sad... What makes people do this sort of thing ??

I've been in a few fights in my life, a few punches thrown. But to pick up a knife or fire axe, knowing that you are likely to kill someone !!

In a word: money !

How did he flee the country, I thought borders were closed and flights cancelled. Maybe a covert crossing point into Laos, Burma, Malaysia or Cambodia. "Doing a Yingluk"!!!!

May be he left on March 30 or 31st.

3 weeks to find the body, I would have thought the stench would have been a clue after 1 week

Or ability to read an simple article. The body was found on the 30th. CCTV had him leave 3 weeks earlier, well before any shut down. Presumably they had his passort go through customs to.
