What type of Covid 19 pandemic person are you?

Featured Replies

It occurred to me the Covid 19 pandemic has revealed a few different categories of TVF members. Perhaps some straddle two categories, but I think most fall into one. Personally I'm in the optimist camp, and I think that's a pretty healthy place to be. But then I'm biased (as you can see from my descriptions ????)

Thoughts?

Optimists

- Looking at positive data and taking hope from it

- Having faith that most governments are doing their best to combat the virus (why wouldn't they?)

- Anticipating an end to the pandemic within a reasonable time frame

Eternal Critics

- Dismiss any positive data as fake, irrelevant etc.

- It's all the government's fault / My government is doing better than yours

- Lockdowns are wrong / Lockdowns are not tough enough

Pessimists

- Actively searching for negative data to share with us all

- Repeating the 'second wave' / 'we're all doomed' mantra

- Predicting a global depression for the next 20-30 years

- Covid 19 pandemic is going to be with us forever

Conspiracy theorists

- It's all about 5G

- It's all about government control

Prolonged lock downs are wrong.

A global depression, sure, minimum 3 years.

And finally, there's something fishy about all this thing.

Pessimist (Realist)

It will keep coming back in waves, reinfection will wipe out everyone. If it doesn’t, something newer and stronger will, just around the corner...

I just got off emailing with my Chinese lady and I got dumbfounded.

The way she sounded, the tone of writing, is the (stupid) foreign countries mishandled the COVID, etc.

She has no shame or sorry for the original cause of the epidemic.

The government control of China is as efficient as North Korea.

I don't know whether I would continue this relationship.

I don't see a lot of panic in Thailand, compared to what i hear from my european friends, but things can change quickly.

I am alive one, So far.

There def needs to be a realist option which crosses over into the pessimistic one I guess.

Life is never going to be the same for many.....fact.

Today’s report that half of the Worlds jobs could be wiped out. Realistic or Pessimistic?

Thailand seems to be getting on with it better than most. Ignorance or reality? Time will tell.

Things over here in the UK are as grim as ever. No sign of any let up, care home deaths rocketing, more and more people desperate for money.

First time for over a month the number of cars on the road increased.
Resilience is weakening. People want some sign of positivity but every night the same message.

Half the world's jobs could be wiped out short term, but there will surely be a surge in demand after all the lockdowns, creating new businesses and jobs quite rapidly. There's my optimism again!

I'm also in the UK currently. I don't see more and more people desperate for money. I do see resilience weakening, and patience running out. But What I see (hear) mostly is the press asking 'gotcha' type questions all the time, trying to make a name for themselves. And I think that just increases the negativity and anxiety in the public unnecessarily.

For one, I don,t like to be told what to do, but this is not only in regards to the virus. If any government restricts my rights, I am not a happy camper.

I don,t believe in the # We know best what is good for you # policy. I might believe some governments more and some less doing it for the greater good. Here I imagine it is power hunger, some other own agendas and to shine as a hero in the public. A very thin line.

I understand this is a new challenge for all governments, but I hope they learn from this one. The effect of the shutdowns worldwide is far bigger than the virus.

I followed the numbers that were published and was happy to see them dropping.

Expected the curfew to stop earlier. Too much suffering in the poor population.

I like the Swedish way how it is getting handled. ( I can hear the uproars coming, but I give a flying donut )

If people don,t take care of their health in normal times, their body might have a harder time to fight the virus. Herd immunization is a good way.

I could go on etc. This is my opinion and everybody got a right to his own one.

Think for yourself

Question authority

"Throughout human history, as our species has faced the frightening, terrorizing fact that we do not know who we are, or where we are going in this ocean of chaos, it has been the authorities, the political, the religious, the educational authorities who attempted to comfort us by giving us order, rules, regulations, informing, forming in our minds their view of reality. To think for yourself you must question authority and learn how to put yourself in a state of vulnerable, open-mindedness; chaotic, confused, vulnerability to inform yourself." -- Timothy Leary

From what I see, many people want the governments to think and act for them, and then spend all their time criticising the governments' decisions.

You just won the internet today! Transform yourselves... shout out to Brian Rose over at London Real. Get on board folks!!

It is there, one has to live with it. ( Fatalist?)

It can be annoying ( Realist?)

No booze for an indefinite time/permanent ( Pessimist?)

They will maintain the curfew, so quiet at night ( Optimist? )

Wait and see optimist!  Until a vaccine is developed, tested, and made ready for use...the world will remain in a state of flux...

I’m not in any particular camp, I just don’t want to get it, although I suspect that the vast majority will as this will circulate for years to come.
