So they'll paint them in army colors and give generals free flights?

Ah yes, the song remains the same. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

    A bunch of fat cats, on fat salaries, who know absolutely Nothing about running an airline, and don't care as long as they get their free first class tickets for themselves, their families, and friend

  • The whole point is the government should step away. Governments shouldn’t be in the business of running or owning airlines.    The reasons for Thais troubles are well known, and they all ste

  • Seeing as most of the senior staff (how many vice presidents does a company need?) are ex air force boys they probably have close ties to Prayut and his merry men.    This statement from him

wonder what the 10 goals are ..... I hope it's sack all the directors & management

Yeah, quit bringing in Air Chief Marshals as CEO's. Hire a farang, like Sir Tim Clark of Emirates -- both he and his predecessor, Sir Flanigan -- knew how to run an airline. He'll be available upon his retirement from Emirates in June 2020. Unfortunately, probably too tight a nut for the Thais to bite; and, as a farang, wouldn't pass the Anutin sniff test.

Then again -- was it Tim Clark who bought all those A380's now headed for the scrapyard?

Anyhow, whoever they get, remember to keep your stewardess stock under age 32, only hire the pretty and articulate (and it's a buyers market for stews, a status job), and you'll be rewarded with a full, profitable business class. Return to the days when THAI's reputation included their attractive air hostess staff. Yeah, Yeah -- you're not supposed to offload the dumpies -- you certainly can't with US airlines, as the proof is in the pudding. But, hey, this is Asia -- and THAI certainly needs to return to the days of a glamorous air staff. So, buy out those who no longer can bring on a rise, so to speak...

Agree with the thrust of this. If the airline was profitable and thriving with sexism choosing the hosties, then get sexist again, get rid of the wokies. do what works, don't let the numpties like Prauth in, madness lies down that path and everything they touch turns to poop anyway.

<snip>

Yes it was Tim Clark who spearheaded the A380 buying spree, mainly because the company was given a boatload of cash to do, 'something impressive'

And somewhat like TG, EK isn't a real commercial company it's a wholly owned State enterprise so doesn't really operate in the real world

That strategy was already starting to implode before all this, with the hub and spoke model coming under pressure as the point to point advantages of the twin engine ETOPS aircraft are becoming more attractive to airlines and customers.

It will be interesting to see how EK emerges after all this subsides

To add to my comments on Tim Clark, even he last week made the comment 'the era of the A380 is over' and a very short era is was!

It will be interesting to see what TG does with their increasingly useless A380's given the total lack of a secondary market.

But in true TG style I'm sure they will announce a plan to sell them to sucker at a ridiculously inflated price.

I remember around 3 yrs ago Lufthansa made an offer to buy Thai. At that time Thai seemed to be like Holy Grail. National pride was stronger and more valuable.

Now I suppose in times of Corona no airline might be interested to buy a rotten Thai.
