Snake is it poison

Featured Replies

I have a bright Green Snake living in the garden where I live, it is second one I have seen, the owner killed the first one it was inside the house, this one is out side, I have seen it twice , can anyone tell if it is poisonous it is about 3 - 4 foot long very bright green and thin, small pointed head. I want to call City hall they will send someone to catch it and release it somewhere safe, can not get city hall to answer, maybe close for the lockdown. I have one when I lived in Nong Pai Lai. much bigger and dark green , the men from city hall came and took it away and release it in the bush away from people. I do not want to tell the owner he will kill it and that is not good. I am from Australia and we do not kill Snakes. all Snakes in Australia are protected can not kill them.

Photo would help.....

Yes I know , it has gone into hiding can not see it now I know where it is but do not want to mess with it, I think it is a Oriental Whip Snake only a little venomous not harmful to humans, I will go to city hall to see if it is open.

There is also a FREE identification service pinned at the top of this forum. You need a picture though to use it properly.

I know the pix as a tree snake and they are harmless so I'm told.

That is an oriental whip snake... Not going to harm you. I would leave it there and enjoy watching it.

Just for future reference, snakes are not poisonous ,but some are venomous ,

Whip snake,Golden tree snake, they will both quickly retreat, both beautiful snakes,

that should never be killed, that's the problem some people will kill anything that

comes into their space and moves.

Just for future reference some species of keelback snake are arguably poisonous. They secrete venom they have ingested from toads they predate on - they don't actually produce the poison themselves.  They are also venomous of course.

Join the snake pages on fb, and they are quick to give feedback what kind of snakes you got if you give them a pic and where in Thailand.

Isan group this one, but there is more.

Great last words - they do not always know you are leaving them alone - have had cobra face me off on roadside several times, slow retreat by me and king cobra can be territorial and aggressive but avoided them.  Have almost stepped on both pit and russell vipers (cement walkway at night) and a banded krait in work area. There are some very dangerous snakes in Thailand (and not only us two legged types).  You don't want to mess with this guy.
