Thailand's chief of immigration Lt-Gen Sompong Chingduang led a raid on an illegal loan company operating in Bangkok yesterday.

It was reminiscent of the antics of the IB's former chief Surachate Hakpan known as Big Joke who busted call centers before his fall from grace last year.

Officers went to a four story premises in Soi Wutthakat 36/2 where there was a call center upstairs.

Thai Lucky Trade Co Ltd. was offering short term loans up to 5,000 baht charging interest of up to one per cent a day. If people failed to return the money in a week they were charged 5% a day.

Victims were contacted over the phone and persuaded to download an app and use video call to verify credentials and ID.

Chinese people are behind the scam.

Six Chinese at the premises were managing the operation that employed 73 Thais.

Dozens of computers and phones were taken into evidence.

Daily news said the business was operating above the law and involved a turnover of 100 million baht.

Looks like those who borrowed already are getting it for free now though, as those they borrowed from are not in a position to demand it back.

You’re right surely they can involve a farang somehow.

Chinese people are behind the scam.

No prosecution then. Just a Wai, and off to their next scam. Chinese always get preferred special treatment here.

The cops are now searching for the dirty farang mastermind.

No Police involved ---76 Thai nationals, and the immigration dept makes the bust....???

Chinese are very creative. Inventing disease and making it lucrative simultaneously.

Immigration police are part of the Royal Thai police force, and there were 3 Chinese involved

So what happened to the 76 innocent Thai Nationals, that had a part in ripping off their fellow countrymen??????

Can you prove your allegation?

Satirical or ironic comment, for plenty or reason, well known to most.

Read: special lane in airports, preferred treatment ...........

Chinese Shocking

Chinese crooks, say no more ........

These Chinese are clever. First they unleash a deadly virus that wrecked Thailand's economy, now they unscrupulously offer high interest loans to the victims of the economic fallout.

Did he actually "lead the raid" or just step in to grab the glory?

These Immigration chiefs tend to love "limelight"

But, aren't these the quality Chinese tourists they want back?

Yes indeed, and from what I heard today outside LOS, Thailand, and you ex-pats in particular, may be in for a big surprise (not in your favor)!!

Every cloud has a silver lining... Yet Thailand maintains a love affair with the Chinese.

Already replied to that is post #13. I wont reply again.

I assume you haven't been living long here. Neither have you read the many scams reported in local news last 2 years, performed by same nationality.

No, I will not give you links, perform a search yourself.

I only looked at the article to see if they were Chinese-yep, and there will be thousands of more call centers because the Chinese get away free and clear.
