More than 14 million applicants for the government’s Bt5,000 remedial payments have been approved, while 11.8 million applicants have already received the money, Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, secretary to the finance minister, said on Monday (May 11).

LONDON (Reuters) - Men in the lowest-skilled jobs had the highest rate of death involving COVID-19 among working-age people in England and Wales, according to data on Monday which also showed deaths among nurses and doctors was no higher than the average.

PHUKET: Phuket officials are considering their next course of action for the areas where four new confirmed infections of COVID-19 have been reported, while other areas that have not had a new infection for 14 days may soon see their lockdown restrictions lifted.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - The number of foreign tourists in Thailand may plunge as much as 25.8 million to 14 million this year, the lowest level in 14 years, as the coronavirus pandemic hits global travel, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said on Monday.

BERLIN/PARIS (Reuters) - Germany reported on Monday that new coronavirus infections were accelerating exponentially after early steps to ease its lockdown, news that sounded a global alarm even as businesses opened from Paris hair salons to Shanghai Disneyland.
