snoop1130
December 4 marked as ‘Unity Day’ – but not a holiday By The Nation The Cabinet agreed on Tuesday (May 12) that December 4 will now be marked as “Unity Day”, in honour of a speech given by HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great in 1991. Government spokesman Narumon Piniyosinwat said the Cabinet had declared December 4 should be observed as the annual day of unity – though it will not be a public holiday. Speaking on the eve of his birthday in 1991, King Rama IX stressed that without unity, the nation had no future. Popular Post Donutz
Nice, but when will the country ever see unity or reconciliation if so many we suspect of crimes against the people are never really put on trial? For unity you need to heal, for healing you need justice.

And Unity Day can be the day it is accepted press freedom is welcomed, oppressive defamation laws will be ended, Computer Crimes legislation misuse ended, army procurement reviewed, conscription ended and fair elections announced. All in the name of Unity. 4

Srikcir
I suspect Unity Day won't be much of a celebration in the former Kingdom of Patani. Especially as it continues to operate under State of Emergency, unlike the rest of Thailand. Edited May 13, 2020 by Srikcir Add comment
