Tourism makes up around 17% of Thailand's GDP.

What shape do you think the Thai economy will be in 18 months from now?  Then, on a local level, the tourists areas. Eg. Pattaya, Phuket, Samui etc.

The Chinese hordes were / will be the only ones keeping Pattaya afloat.

As proven at the moment, it surely ain't the buckow Chang brigade bringing wealth to the businesses. Look at the for sale signs. They need the Asians and Indians back quickly. Sad, but FACT.

I doubt anyone who finds Pattaya to be a dump would do much better in Cambodia!

That will make the place look busy, but only a few select businesses with profit from them, and even then, that profit is rock bottom, not to mention the Chinese tour groups only spending in Chinese owned establishments.

You seem to be a bit clueless regarding Pattaya.  Do you actually live here year-round?  Many Russians are still here--although perhaps not where you are.  When travel opens up once more Pattaya will again see large numbers of Russians escaping the harsh winters--some have condos they own here.  Lots of independent Chinese travelers came to Pattaya pre-covid and they will be back, as well.  Like the Russians, some have condos here and many stay in more out-of-the-way places like Wongamat, so maybe they weren't as visible to you.  Both groups are important to Pattaya.

"buckow"?, well you obviously have a really in-depth knowledge of Pattaya.

"although perhaps not where you are" says it all, where are they all hiding then?i say again because you do seem a bit clueless regarding how pattaya was before corona ,the chinese and russian money stays in russian and chinese hands and do,es not filter back into pattayas local economy, heres your starter for ten, have a walk up walking street and clock the russian prostitutes.anyway hope you sell your bar,or is it a part share ina gogo bar?

And, there you are exactly making my point with '...have a walk up walking street...'.   No thanks.  The regular Russian and Chinese families, couples, older retirees, young groups, and others are not there.  And, neither am I.

As I stated, they are in other parts of Pattaya far from Walking Street.  They're not hiding, just not as visible because they are, apparently, not where you ever go.  Maybe get off Walking Street sometime and explore some of the many other areas of Pattaya.   Your ridiculous statement that the money they spend all goes to fellow Russians and Chinese with no benefit to the local economy does not warrant a response.  I could mention, though, that I have sold 3 condos to Russians and 5 condos to Chinese so some of their money went to an American.

Wrong. One of those little TVF myths continually parroted by those who don't have a clue what Russians and Chinese, even Indians, are spending on.

Russians - vodka from 7/11.

Chinese - latex from Chinese owned latex stores.

Indians - short time girls on Beach Road.

The new "golden egg layers."  ????
