KHON KAEN (NNT) - The Ministry of Commerce has launched the third round of a discount campaign for the people, with 158 shopping malls across the country offering special discounts on 1,717 items.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit, presided over the launch of the nationwide discount campaign for the people at Sentosa Khon Kaen shopping center today, where he also held meetings with representatives of local shopping malls, both in person and via a video call.

The Minister of Commerce said the previous two runs of this campaign have received good feedback. In the current campaign, 287 branches of 158 shopping malls in 67 provinces are now offering up to 68 percent discounts on 1,717 items.

Discounts are offered on necessities such as food and drinks, frozen food, seasonings, daily essential goods, personal hygiene products, and cleaning products. The campaign is intended to help reduce the cost of living, while encouraging the general public to make purchases, and therein help improve the economy.

Yet to find any substantial reductions from rounds 1+2 !   Prices in Thai Supermartkets are above and beyond those in Europe and North America; quite frankly disgusting in a low wage society.  Same goes for Car Sales both New and Secondhand; absolute shameless rip-off of their own people to keep the rich 'Elite' happy.

Yet to see any real discounts in my local Big C... everything looks like normal prices...

I'm not even going to start on with imported goods with the "luxury tax" tagged on!

That's a nice idea raising the prices of electicity more then a 100% in some households and the lowering the prices on foods and such . They should lower the prices on many products for a long time because compared to many taxdriven european countries , the prices are quit high to begin with . Even on local products .
