David Crosby and others have been very vocal about the music theft that is going on in the music industry...

 

Now if musicians cant play live they have almost zero income.....

As stated previously my good lady has a small bar which has done OK over the years, & has 

overcome some amazing officialdom in her day,,, every thing from Govt officials suggesting it is not a real proper business.blah, blah.

She is very quick to point out that taxes are paid, signage taxes are paid, licence fees are paid, music taxes are paid, land taxes are paid, etc, etc.& not forgetting that tax is paid on the booze when she buys it as well. So bars produce a double whammy for the Government with taxes.

Have a look at some massive businesses that have this amazing ability to pay no taxes at all.

Then 3  lots of "official" Govt employees expects a brown envelope every month (they must be hurting at the moment) so is it a proper business ? , yes it is.

In Pattaya there are just too many bars now, I agree, & with the lack of customers many will fail over the next 2 years,,, water has a habit of finding it's own level.

Reopening of the bars  middle June & only serve customers who have been in the cuntry for 30 days  I cannot see being any worse than the skytrain or Chatuchak Market.  Keep a 2am curfew.

The big problem comes when the airports open again, at which time nobody will know exactly 

what will happen

Correct Thailand will change, Pattaya being the dump that it is, and knowing the lack of any real investment rebranding it for bus loads of Chinese will not be difficult. Possibly by closing beach road, converting third road, one way south, maintaining a clean enviromemt around the beach. Take a walk down to the beach and observe how quickly it has been transformed into a place worth going.  I believe a lot of the boats in the harbor including the entertainment venues will disappear,  what remains, enforcing the plan to use the pier will be easy. This will attract a lot of high worth travelers, families, Thai people from Bangkok and surrounding provinces. This will take a little time, but it's on the cards.

If you’re not a fan of Pattaya then so be it, although you appear to know a lot about it. For many people, it’s a place to meet up, have a few beers, watch a few ladies dance and just enjoy yourself. We go 2-3 times a year as it’s cheaper than Bangkok and just a fun place to hang out it with no need to dabble if you don’t want to. 

The main problem that Pattaya in particular has, is that the City has the reputation of being the biggest Cat House in the World.

Impossible to rebrand a reputation like that.

Without argument, there are huge heaps of disposable electronic music, but there are stacks of music from the past 20 years that could be classified in the statement that have become classics for the new generation. I've lived in a lot of places in Thailand and would certainly not call Pattaya a dump...has an easy immigration office, fantastic transport system with baht buses, probably the most expat shops/supermarkets anywhere in Thailand,  Survhabhumi is easy to reach, good seasons unlike the South with hot or rain...many other things also...just what exactly makes Pattaya a dump?

Wont help thailand if those bar closed  wont help THai airways either

I agree, Pattaya has some wonderful places, some sad places, and a variety for all. It is not a dump.

They could turn all the bars into bridge clubs, but from a police harassment viewpoint that's probably riskier than having naked girls dancing around a pole, lol.

No they will not take to the streets, who are you talking about? Bar girls who look good will hang about working from the net, The others will go home to the country. I wouldn't be surprised if we see most current and new retirees located up country with a lot of new bars in prime locations. Pattaya in the short term, there will be a small rise in crime, not lasting long the boys will follow the girls home. Over a short period of time, the volume of people giving free food will be reduced again encouraging people to return home. 100% no one is taking to the streets, maybe a few people in front of city hall which will go no where. After 13 years here and Bangkok, I can honestly say I have had the time of my life ???? Its with great sadness but I do believe Pattaya is going to change drastically over the coming two years, I might just go up country myself.
