Sorry if the information I require has already been given.

My situation: currently on an Ed visa and due to finish my degree here in Thailand soon. I am married to a Thai national and have a daughter.

When this Covid situation is over I plan to go to Savannahkhet or HCMC and get a Non-O visa based on marriage. A couple of questions:

1. Which would I require a single or multiple entry? I have a job lined up and the necessary documentation to obtain a work permit. Would a single entry visa enable me to extend for a year?

2. Do I have to cancel my Ed visa prior to exiting Thailand?

3. In my situation is the Non-O favourable to a Non-B?

Thanks in advance for any advice and apologies for any stupid questions.

You could apply for a extension of stay based upon marriage when your current extension of stay for attending school ends. I am sure you do not have a valid non-ed visa.

You would need 400k baht in a Thai bank for 2 months or proof of 40k baht income.

You can get a work permit and work with a non-o visa or extension of stay based upon marriage. You can also use the income from working to meet the 40k baht income requirement.

The advantage of having an extension based upon marriage instead of one for working it that your extension is not tied to your job.

Does the first extension based on marriage using the income method need to be for 1 year or 2 months?

The 60-day extension does not require financial proof. Only the one-year extension has financial requirements.

You only need 2 months of international transfers going into a Thai bank that are 40k baht or more for the first extension application.

That is great. Many thanks for your speedy reply.

I did the retirement extension from non-Ed so I am quite sure you can do the same with marriage extension as long as you meet the financial requirements.
