U.S. orders 300 million doses of potential COVID-19 vaccine

(Reuters) - The U.S. government has ordered 300 million doses of a potential COVID-19 virus being developed by AstraZeneca and Oxford University and hopes first doses can be made available by October, the Department of Health and Human Services said on Thursday.

 

“This contract with AstraZeneca is a major milestone in Operation Warp Speed’s work toward a safe, effective, widely available vaccine by 2021,” HHS Secretary Alex Azar said in a statement.

I find this news disturbing.  I've included 2 links, one to a site with a liberal leaning, the other to the NY Post, which is pretty much a print version of Fox (and part of the Murdoch organization).

Mandatory vaccination, UK health secretary said today "An effective vaccination for the disease is yet to be developed anywhere in the world but Mr Hancock said if one is he would hope that 'everybody would have the vaccine'. "

 

I'm not an anti vaxxer or conspiracy theorist.

I think you have it wrong. People and organizations prepare now so they don't have to be afraid later. The people who don't prepared often up being afraid later.

If you follow a science news, you would know human trials have been taking place for a month already. UK has dibs on the first 30 mil vaccines with 70 mil after. No angle, just investment for research and obtaining a vaccine....let's all hope it works.

He's trying to make it sound like the problem is solved, over and done with, and now on to the second term.  Which has been his tactic since this virus stuff started.

This whole topic is just as fanciful as talking about the cost of vacations of on Mars, and what their itinerary would be.

But why is concerned about vaccines and contagion when he declared all this a hoax? 

The kids reiterated the hoax declaration the other day.

 

 

The bigger question is why 300 million? The entire US population is 330 million. Unless mandatory, I doubt 300,000,000 will get vaccinated. Hopefully, there will be an extended "use by" date!

Sounds like mandatory to me. One of those links said about protecting 1500 health centres in the USA.

Do I think I'm more likely to die now during this pandemic, I hope not. I'm very cynical and skeptical about this pandemic, I have been from the start, it stinks of something else. I've been doing everything the same as I would normally do, but other people are turning into zombie apocalypse types. I went to London on Wednesday to meet a friend and drink in a park, the City of London, the financial hub of the UK was a ghost town. The medical stats for London are now the lowest in the UK, 100 new infections in 2 weeks I read, but everything is still closed. I felt perfectly safe there, the park was great, everyone was smiling and having fun in the sun. Apparently you cannot have fun anymore according to the government.

a vaccine -ummm a virus,its hard to make one,malaria herpes,shingles HIV AIDS?it will take a while.if possible at all.safeguards must be in place as we see the actual mortality figs drop and drop for corona and strong arguements about whos died of it or with it.the vaccine must be less risky than the virus.it must NOT be mandatory.no country has the right to make it law but we have a witches coven of self interest stirring the pot,gates who stands to make a lot of money. the WHO ,the org that has found itself caught up pushing chinas internal and foreign policy whether by accident or not we dont know yet and UN who should be safeguarding our rights and health not undermining them.theres a rush on and that leads to mistakes ,weve seen so many so far with a virus thats killed 300k people.....maybe .in a population of 7 billion plus,caused catastrophic economic damage thats is now looking to be the bigger problem.3rd world countries such as india and pakistan have had to open their econs as more would die of poverty and hunger than the virus,the same in philippines too,which  has a minor problem in comparison to european countries but is ruled by a power crazed authoritarian.we do need to step back from the hysteria and think of our citizens best interest.sadly lacking so far
