The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) meeting approved on Friday (May 22) extension of the state of emergency for a month until June 30, as proposed by the National Security Council (NSC).

The NSC on Thursday (May 21) decided to propose the emergency matter as well as those related to the next phase of relaxation of the lockdown and curfew to the CCSA. It invited representatives from related agencies like national security, public health and economy to hold a meeting in order to discuss the state of emergency, which has been enforced since March 26.

After approval by the CCSA, the NSC will propose this matter again to the Cabinet next Tuesday.

If the numbers are true at single digit or zero cases why is the emergency still needed unless the numbers arent correct .

1,000 Thais returned from overseas in the last two days. Some of them will be found to be positive. Not all of them obey the isolation rules.

It is still out there - just in smaller numbers.

Why have proposals and why have votes when the outcome we all know is pre-determined. Why even announce the result when we all know what it will be. This guy will do everything he can to keep his boot on the throats of his people, power hungry doesn't even begin to describe him

bc people still can have the virus without symptons for up to two weeks if i am correct.

To end the emergency too soon would be very foolish with giving a second outbreak a change.

Most Thai ppl support and understand the emergency. Just look around how positively everybody wears a mask and wash hands. There is no "boot on the throats of people". We leave that hyperbolic language better for the usa...

I believe that many Thais have had enough. I am seeing fewer Thais wearing masks and if they do it's either round the chin or hanging off 1 ear. (The majority are still wearing one though). I am seeing more gatherings of Thais than there were a few weeks back. Road traffic seems as heavy as it was before.
I don't know whether Thais are washing their hands or not, I don't tend to follow them into the bathroom.

for weeks I've been reading about this second wave, is there such a thing or is it paranoia scare mongering ?

The rich need the time to scope out buying opportunities from the thousands of distressed and failed business's.  The carpet baggers are about to swoop. Many Chinese are waiting in the wings to clean up whats left.

I guess with the extension of emergency for another month, there is more time to divert more funds to a hidden place.

Thailand 56 +dead

USA   96, 000 + dead

Say no more....

Fearmongerer like to show these deaths numbers but they forget to specify that the vast majority were people who were going to die anyway.

Average age of deaths is 80 years old with multiple comorbidities, a very high percentage of the deaths in the west were in nursing homes.

Try comparing life expectancy in Thailand with many western countries.

I was just talking to a thai friend, and she said she thought it was about control. Or, they are lying about the numbers. The behavior makes no sense. Say the disease is crushed and enact new tracking systems that make huge crowds at entrances to various malls and stores which violate social distancing when the old system of temp checks and hand sanitizer seemed quick and effective. It seems designed to increase infections which then need to be tracked. Maybe it's just for show.

Well, if we look Beyond Thailand's single digit and zero claims - during a pandemic the world is never more recovered than the sickest nation so yes emergency procedures are still needed - Thailand included …

Perhaps their statements are incomplete - maybe they should read "number of new cases, zero; number of deaths, zero; number of tests completed, zero". Then the lockdown is here forever.

domestic travel?

It's called fear and panic, easy to control people when it's an invisible virus, line up here, line up there.
