Experiments with hamsters show effectiveness of masks in staving off infection

Wearing medical masks can protect people from Covid-19 infection at least 75 per cent of the time, according to an experiment by a Hong Kong microbiologist, Dr Manoon Leechawengwongs, a Thai respiratory disease specialist, informed through his fanpage on Saturday (May 23).

Government cash handouts have reached 15 million applicants

Two new Covid-19 Thai patients in state quarantine had returned from abroad

There were three new cases of Covid-19 over a 24-hour period, taking total confirmed cases to 3,040 since the outbreak, Dr Panprapa Yongtrakul, assistant spokeswoman of the government’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, said on Saturday (May 23).

PHUKET: Phuket shops and businesses that have been allowed to reopen so far are following the post-lockdown health regulations tightly, many above “90% compliance”, the Phuket Communicable Disease Committee headed by Phuket Governor Phakaphong Tavipatana reported yesterday (May 22).

Corporate net profit takes a pounding in first quarter

Thailand considers shortening curfew hours to midnight until 4am

Thailand’s National Security Council (NSC) has been assigned, by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, in his capacity as the CCSA chief, to consider whether the current 11pm to 4am curfew can be shortened to midnight to 4am during the third phase of relaxation of lockdown restrictions, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngarm said today (Saturday).

Education Minister observes online learning at children’s homes

BANGKOK(NNT)-The Minister of Education has visited students at their homes in Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi, to observe the actual online learning process. Schools across the country are to reopen on 1st July, except for those in areas with an ongoing viral outbreak where all classes will be moved online, or onto TV.
