The chemical department of the Royal Thai Army has been tasked with disinfecting the Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line (Blue Line) and Chalong Ratchadham (Purple Line).

Earlier, 55 staff had undertaken a cleaning operation at MRT Tao Poon station on May 15 from 10pm to 4am.

The staff will also disinfect 52 other MRT stations from May 25 to 31.

Meanwhile, the Army has sent staff to curfew checkpoints, border checkpoints, 17 Bangkok Transit System (BTS) stations, and eight state quarantines to take care of people during the Covid-19 outbreak.

Some staff also provided food and haircut, bought farmers’ crops, repaired electrical appliances and set up community pantries.

Is this like one time? Article says "a cleaning."

Shouldn't cleaning be done at least once a day, ie., beginning or end?

A bit of Spit and Polish

Well it's an improvement from shooting unarmed civilians, so props to the Army for that.

Its a very usefull ???? operation right now. Knowing that there is almost no covid infections in Thailand and the virus can only survive a relatively short time on surfaces in amounts that it could be infectious. Its like shooting with a shotgun on a mosquito. But at least they can show they did something.

According to a May 5th article::

"Based on our knowledge of the conditions required for disinfectants to work, we suspect these activities are as much about authorities being seen to do something as about actually stopping the spread of COVID-19".

"A far more effective regime is to recommend stringent personal hygiene. This includes regular hand washing with soap and water and the use of alcohol-based sanitizer when hand washing isn't possible".

Why are they doing this? Based on everything we've been told this is a completely useless measure.
