Thai road rage: "Win" charged with assault after he batters 75 year old taxi driver with his helmet

Petchkasem police have charged a 32 year old motorcycle taxi rider (Win) with assault after he used his helmet to bash a 75 year old taxi driver causing head and facial injuries.

The chief of police said that the incident began after a collision in the Bang Khun Thian area after which a chase ensued.

Phachorn, 32, then assaulted Meng S. , 75, near an intersection in Bang Khae.

Both parties filed complaints with the police following the incident yesterday afternoon.

The Win rider claimed that his wife was hurt in a collision and the taxi driver fled the scene.

He then claimed that the old man then went for him with what looked like a screwdriver resulting in him using his helmet to beat the driver.

The video clip shows nothing in the old mans hands or on the ground where he is being hit with the helmet possibly a BS story from the Win rider .

A paper thin veneer separates a Thai and his emotions. 12 year olds most of them.

A guy in his 30's has to resort to battering a fella old enough to be his grandfather with a helmet? Pathetic, but similar to that which we see way too often. Stop with the wais and the petty fines and give these people 5 years in jail and we might see the number of incidences start to drop.

Look at the damage to that taxi, he sure has hit something....and 75 is too old to drive taxi anyway.

That taxi might have almost killed him and tried to flee after it...so because the driver is 75 he should get away with it? I don't think so.

A chum of mine was still driving a black London cab till he was in his late 70s.

And Transport for London have very stringent health standards and must be satisfied that a driver is fit and proper to hold a licence.

This Thai cabbie probably was as well. Even if he was not he did not deserve to get a beating from a thug who was 40 years his junior.

what I love most about thailand is its peaceful, non-confrontational, and others first culture
