There are plenty of examples of the most hideous police brutality where they were not held accountable and got away scot free. 

Seems like Police everywhere around the world are the biggest criminals. Maybe its about tiem that tax payers take back their countries...governments aroudn the world are turning to be hopeless only focussing on their own greed.

This anger we're now seeing is multifaceted. It's the police brutality, it's the racism, and it's the economic situation in America. As if your life wasn't crappy enough with low pay and high rent, then you've got the cops there to make your day. I've heard this from many white people. If you're not white, then you've got racism on top of this, from cops, employers, and neighbors.

 

Most of the protesters I see are young people, of many races. This current generation has few opportunities, though their parents and grandparents might still harp on them about the good old days. No, you can't just go out and get a good job and your own apartment, even with a college degree. You're lucky to get minimum wage retail or service work. You'll have multiple roommates or end up staying with your parents. You can't get the nice things you see at Target, you're barely buying food and making the rent.

 

Too many saw only the vandals and opportunists hauling away TVs. I saw young white women with strollers, diapers, and one with a lamp under each arm. The middle class lifestyle they were told their hard work should afford them. No, they can't have it. They're only meant to scrape by. And should anybody be unhappy with this, then they've got the cops to beat in a reminder of where their place is. That is what we now see spilling out into the streets.

You're correct that it was a problem for decades. As a result, Obama put a lot of police reforms in process. As with the Pandemic Task Force, Trump killed it because, you know, Obama. So yes, he owns this. As he does the pandemic response.

As to your racist "thugs" nonsense, the ones from out of town are mostly White Supremacists who are there to cause provocations and looting. Already have several who have been caught by the protesters and exposed as either Supremacists or undercover cops. This is the standard Cop (and fascist) playbook, push until the people are fed up and protest, then provoke violent response, then crack down on the protesters, peaceful or otherwise.
