BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand reported four new coronavirus cases and no new deaths on Wednesday, bringing its total to 3,125 confirmed infections, of which 58 were fatalities.

The new cases were quarantined Thai nationals returning from Madagascar, Pakistan and India, said Taweesin Wisanuyothin, a spokesman for the government's Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration.

Thailand has recorded no new local transmissions for 16 days in a row.

Good news.

See no reason if this keeps up that everything internally should be able to open at the end of the month as obviously the virus has fizzled out within the country.

Let all businesses including bars & restaurants open & serve alcohol as a "dress rehearsal  for a month  BEFORE opening up to international tourists who could quite possible put us back to square one

What I'd like to see at this point would be antibody testing. There's still no data whatsoever about how widely it spread here before they woke up to the existence of the virus.

One of the health honchos said it would take "28 days" of no domestic transmission to declare Thailand "safe". Without testing, how will we ever be sure?

If we open up too soon, the last three months of sheltering will have been wasted at great social cost.

I'd far rather take a cautious approach and stay at home. This may be a fake out before the sucker punch.

They said if no new cases were detected for 14 days, all restrictions would be lifted. So, we expect that to happen by midnight tonight. Give the people of this nation a break. Let them all go back to work tomorrow. The restrictions are not only abusive at this stage, they are downright sadistic, and are accomplishing nothing, with Covid gone.

The only people advocating taking a "safe approach", are the ones collecting a full salary and benefits, or the ex-pats with a fat pension.
