Man found collecting UXOs as a hobby

Featured Replies

Local authorities and the Cambodian Mine Action Center yesterday discovered a big collection of anti-personnel landmines and other unexploded ordnances at a man’s house in Banteay Meanchey province’s Tomnob Dach village. The man was identified as Ka Sonit, 49, a father of three.

Heng Ratana, CMAC director-general, said nearly 30 landmines and UXOs were discovered at Mr Sonit’s house. He was found to have even hung some of the explosives from the branches of a tree next to his house as “decoration”. “These landmines can be triggered easily and he is lucky that none of them exploded,” Mr Ratana said.

Lieutenant Colonel Ses Vibol, police chief of O’Chrov district, said Mr Sonith is suffering from a mental disorder, adding he will not face any legal action.

“CMAC has taken possession of the explosives. Our authorities have educated him not to do this again,” he said.

... excellent, perfectly qualified for a government top-job then.

"severe mental disorder" so they 'educate him'  yea that will be ok and his neighbors reassured. He was heard to say his next hobby was collecting disused grenades.

Payment of the tuition for said education has been paid in full.
