Nope, can't get me involved in a pissing contest - I would like to see this thread stay legitimate and, it's just not my way. Nice try tho.

No argument with you UG, you make my point. If he was somehow angry with me - to want me out the door with an incomplete diagnosis and even an incorrect one - would demonstrate a very unprofessional attitude.

No pissing contest, we just disagree.

I think the man does a good job and doesn't deserve a bad reputation, however you have illustrated the possible problem as I see it. The way you are so sure that I was trying to start a fight, when you are entirely incorrect, could be exactly the type of thing that got on the Doc's nerves. I know that it gets on mine. I have seen you express this type of attitude before, and I do admit that I wondered if you acted like this with him.

Now, as far as him being unprofessional about wanting to get rid of you - no matter how much he might have been provoked - you might be right about that. We do hold Doctors to a higher standard than other human beings. :o

UG

I've noticed if your opinion is contradicted regarding restaurants, language schools, medical treatment etc, you become a little OTT. Take a chill pill and calm down. We all know you are always correct but you would be showing a great deal of humility if you allowed others to have opinions.

Sorry Loaded, but did you bother to read our last few posts before commenting?

What Dustoff is saying here is that I'm simply trying to start a fight with him, rather than simply expressing my opinion about the Doctor and Dustoff's problem with him and that is incorrect. I defended the Doctor because I have been a patient for many years and I like and respect the guy and am suspicious about what really happened, but I had nothing against Dustoff until he answered me. What I initially said about the incident wasn't really directed at him; I wanted to express my support for the Doctor.

The "Nope, can't get me involved in a pissing contest - nice try though" was completely untrue, condescending and meant to piss me off and it worked, but I still gave him an honest, frank reply.

If you go back and read our posts and can't see that, I don't think that you should be giving other people advice about their behavior, whatever your motives are. :o

I would love to respond but this thread will quickly be locked, so let's leave it here: I have motives and I didn't read the posts.

As a rule, I try to keep away from doctors and being pretty health (so far), I have been able to do that most of my life. LKC was recommended by a friend and I've gone there for 2 annual checkups and a few minor problems. The problems were resolved quickly and professionally. I 2nd UG's opinion about the doc. Of course, I am always on the lookout for the physician that can walk on water and provide miracle cures.

Well...

I've been to LKC. Twice.

I think as posted above, that if it is a minor ailment, sprain, bone fracture etc. that this guy is as good as it gets. He does most lab work in house, takes x rays for a pittance, and seems to care about his patients. I have a friend who had a growth on his leg- went about 2 months ago. Doctor performed surgery, took biopsies, bandaged him up, had him come back repeatedly for check ups.....charged him a very reasonable sum. When I was there, I would estimate that at least 90% of his clientele are local Thai. It is a neighborhood family clinic. First come, first served. I am confident that if he cannot diagnose or resolve a medical issue, he will send you on your way to somewhere better.

Having said that, I would not see someone like this who is basically a family doctor/general practitioner if you have complicated health issues.

Before I ended up in Thailand, other than in military service, I had only two general practice docs, or internists, over some 30 years. They were good because they could take care of more than scrapes and bruises, but, as one once told me, "My job is to be a diagnostician," and both were always smart to send me or others in the family on to a specialist when needed.

Once, one of them made a really serious mistake that had a very, very bad result. But it was a mistake, and he made up for it by "fessing up" and making every practical medical effort to resolve the issue. In doing so, he actually considered and agreed to follow up with an appropriate suggestion of mine regarding treatment that he did not first consider. That's remarkable open mindedness under pressure. The story had as happy an ending as it could have. I could have sued him and won a bundle, but I never dreamt of doing so.

So, back at Loh Khroh, Suan Doc, or Maharaj, or wherever do your homework, keep your cool, and enjoy the fact that we are indeed fortunate to find some fine practitioners here in Chiang Mai. But there are some not-so-fine folks, too, so keep sharing!
