Information about DCR (dacryocystorhinostomy) procedures in Thailand

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone can help me on this. I am interested in anyone who has experience of either external or endoscopic DCR at private or government hospitals in Thailand (in Bangkok). Particularly interested in costs of treatment of both procedures at different kinds of hospitals, waiting times for either and general comments about what might have been good or bad. Thanks.

You need a specialist in ocularplastics for this.

This  US-trained doctor has been recommended by other TV members and specializes in lacrimal surgery. He does endoscopic DCR

Bumrungrad is however an expensive hospital. Dr. Nattawut also has his own clinic and should cost less there  https://www.ateyeclinic.com/

Thank you Sheryl.

Yes, I saw his name online. I am currently having steroid eye drop treatment for two weeks in the hope that my problems will diminish. My eye doctor at a leading BKK hospital that does not do the surgery said yesterday that she is not hopeful of recovery and suspects I will ultimately need surgery. But she wants to wait two weeks to see if the steroids are in any way successful.

Do you know anything about such operations at Thai govt hospitals in Bangkok - I'd be prepared to wait if it was significantly cheaper.
