Twitter is awash with people sharing their views on the best films/footballers/sandwiches of all time, often founded on next to no expertise.

As such, when a discussion about the greatest rappers of all time is kicking off and no less than Eminem wades in, it's worth sitting up and listening.

YouTuber No Life Shaq instigated the debate by DMing 30 rappers and asking them: "Who is the greatest rapper of all time?"

He also posed the question on Twitter, and Marshall Mathers himself took the opportunity to reply with his verdict, listing the likes of Tupac, Jay-Z and Biggie Smalls.

Good on them. They are perpetrating the biggest con since  the South Sea Bubble.  Good if you can get away with it.

Like every old fart who ever dismissed the next generation's music.

Hip hop has been around for decades now and its aritists certainly need not seek validation from someone with a limited musical scope.

There are a few genres of music that dont do it for me, but in each of those there are also pieces I can admire.

in the early 80s I have heard a rap in a disco, which was a bit slow and the singers changed. About 8-10 minutes. Liked that, but did not ask the dj who that was. Maybe someone can help now?

It was probably Rappers Delight by the Sugarhill Gang. It was about a 13 minute long song. Came out 1979

no not. That is, or better was, well known. But it was at the same time just a few songs after that.

Waiting for the day when I started going "All new music is rubbish, music was better in my day".

I'm 50, it ain't happened yet... When I was a kid it was the early 80s, music was sh*t.

Good Em loves Biggie, still the illest.

these rich rappers have zero talent.  i was an engineer and made 50,000 pounds a year and these idiots made 1,000,000,000 USD.  I'm sooo much smarter than these idiots.  They live in big houses, get fly women, drive nice cars, eat anything, private jets, more houses.  They are sooo dumb.  What a bad way to make money.

I drive a scooter, have 100 baht in my account and I can afford one beer a day.  If I ever see these "musicians," I'll tell them all that money is dumb.

then i met a kid who can play video games and he made 1,000,000 USD and I told him I was an engineer and i have many posts on

TV and being famous is dumb and i still haven't pay off my school loans and can i borrow money and maybe kick me that honey's digits because i'm about to go off......can i get a beat.....bro, i want that money.....................lol.

To all those who say rappers have zero talent... Let's hear you rap then. ????????????????

I have penned a rap about covid19 bats and a Chinaman **** **** ***** **** **** ***** *****r repeat ????

My favorite (Both versions)

Not a great quality video but classic tune which got me started on 80s hip-hop.  The best hip-hop came out circa 86/87.  Listen to some Mantronix to get a feeling for the sound of the time, if you're interested.

Yep rap is utter pish worst music ever invented, girls in the clips are good though

It has to be Jay Z. Apart from his musical achievements he's built an empire that makes him worth 1 billion USD. So a very astute business man.

Elvis wasn't worth close to 1 billion USD in his lifetime, not even inflation adjusted.

Just look at the money.
