And yet Mr. Mathers has amassed a fortune in excess of an estimated US $250 million. Anyone who has worked with the man has remarked on his discipline and his serious approach. Eminem is able to drop brilliant poetic lyrics that eviscerate those he dislikes, impales those who are hypocrites and vile and commands the respect of his peers and established creative talents. This is a man who worked his way out of poverty, a broken home and all the baggage it brings with it, and yet has been generous to family members who were impoverished and in need of a family figure. He is a loyal to his friends and you won't see him embarrassing himself in public like a John Lennon, Bill Cosby, Russell Crowe, Mel Gibson etc. And more importantly, unlike many of the miserable misogynst males of TVF who's children despise and revile them, his daughter is an independent, normal, well adjusted woman with a strong bond with her father. 15 hours ago, Pilotman said: Good on them. They are perpetrating the biggest con since the South Sea Bubble. Good if you can get away with it. No more a con than the white boys and girls of the 50's and 60's who ripped off black artists, or the payola hypocrisy taint of the era that gave the western world the wholesome sounds of manufactured crooner music. And unlike the depraved 60's and 70's Eminem hasn't been a drugged out misfit. I may not like Rap, but I can certainly respect the brilliance of a Dr. Dre, or a man like Snoop Dogg who was a model father and raised some good kids, EZ E who had solid principles and demonstrated incredible loyalty to those who had helped him, and Redman with his laser focus that puts big execs to shame. To call them con men demonstrates a vile ignorance and I suspect a prejudice rooted in a confined life. Impressionist art, Picasso, Lipschitz and others don't impress me either, but I am intelligent enough to understand their perspective and to appreciate the joy they give others. 2

ExpatOne
...to those who don’t understand it. Being a good rapper requires just as much skill as being a good guitar player. It seems easy because they make it sound effortless but a GOOD rapper is a difficult thing to achieve.
