I have seen pages which made my left brown frown.

But now I stumble on one, one which made both brow drop after they meet their maximum position.

A good laugh at some of those lines in the product description.

I opted, now they only need another 1.4 disabled people for this pleasant mishap. ????

I have a few of those modules, they are very useful and as you said easy to switch and flash.

The relayboard I had to modify to get it to work (esp won't boot) , one jumper and a pullup resistor  both done in once.

Removing the SMD 'pull down' resistor would work but I didn't go that way as after adding the 10k on the solder side it worked.

Yeah, I had to modify mine too.

Apparently it works with an ESP-01S (rather than the regular ESP-01) but I can't be bothered to un-modify the boards to find out ????

The 'pleasant mishap' board is ordered , for the conveniently and the components that are already on that board.

I have bought a ex-showmodel 'dumb' vacuum cleaner robot to play with and that's where that board come in handy for activating it remotely -and- monitoring the battery status, as I needed something bigger with respect to the esp module. The relay removed from the board and some extra options. I will teach the robot going 'smart' .

The other tiny esp01(s) board those extra gpio ports are so small and hard to reach so I will keep them just for one function, switching one output.

My AliExpress order with some V1.0 boards included has finally arrived.

I can confirm that they DO work unmodified with an ESP-01S they do NOT work with an ESP-01.

The ESP-01S has a 12k pullup on CH_PD and GPIO-0 which the ESP-01 does not.

I'd still remove R2 on the adaptor board, that 12k on the ESP must just be making it to a "1" by the skin of its teeth.
