Yes, but Christ, why not choose a top tier Thai school? Doesn't have to be a government school. There are some very good private schools that are upmarket and less than half (scratch that..a third! or quarter!) the price.

Unless the family is planning on moving back West, there's really not much point.

I'm not personally aware of any top tier Thai schools.  Not saying  there are none but I honestly don't often see what I consider the results of anyone having attended one.

Guess we all make our individual choices for  better or worst.

This isn't particularly complimentary of  Thailand to say "there's really not much point".

We paid for books and clothing, but the school would not take school fees. They said wait till the scool actually opens.

  • I thought Thai schools were free. Those can't be international schools as the fees there are much higher.  1st term easily around 250-300k

Or more like BROKE after paying those tuition fees.

But we all gotta keep in mind the importance of a good education.

At the end it's the Cambridge Certificate with an average B that could be the entrance to next level of education, no matter if the school charge as much for one term, as others charge for a full tuition year of three terms.

The schools can only do so much. The real work is at home.
